The floors have been cleaned and polished, and look wonderful! Thanks to Ralf Kempe, for organizing and getting this job done!
To keep everything looking great, we ask that everyone removes their outdoor footwear upon entering the hall. Perhaps bring a pair of inside shoes to slip on, at least while the ground is wet through the winter and early spring.
Thanks,

Thank you to everyone who donated money, food and other goods to the Cowichan Neighbourhood House Association for their Christmas programs.
A generous total of $505 plus many thoughtful items were collected by the school and delivered yesterday to Neighbourhood House to assist our neighbours in need this season.
If anyone who donated money wants a charitable tax receipt, please contact me to arrange as they are only issued by Neighbourhood House upon request at this time of year because of their workload.
Thanks,
Kelly Bannister
Request for letters of support from friends of Richard Jerman of Penelakut Island.

http://www.timescolonist.com/news/local/u-s-born-man-faces-deportation-from-penelakut-island-after-37-years-1.757890
Many of you may have heard that Richard was detained by Canadian Immigration.
He has lived on Penelakut for 37 years, is married to Maria George, has four children and 14 grandchildren. Thanks to the efforts of his Family and many Friends he is home again. The Penelakut Band has even offered to adopt him so that he can stay and Elizabeth May has also extended her support.
But he must go through a long process to retain his residence in Canada. Any letters of support will help him stay here and at home with his Family. So if you know Richard and would like to help here is a general outline of what is needed in the letters:
Letters to: The Minister of Citizenship & Immigration
Regarding: Richard German
Identify yourself, where you are from, how you know Richard, how long you have known him, what is his character, and how does his staying benefit the community.
If you mail your letter to Richard at his address below within the next week or so, he and his lawyer will present them as a group to the Immigration authorities in about ten days. Richard extends his appreciation and thank you to you all!

Thank you very much!
Hello All,
If you love the carol season and miss the community Christmas concert, several of us are going to hang around after Soup's On and sing some carols together.
We will have a few carol sheets for those who can't remember all of the words. This is not a formal gathering...we just feel festive and this is the last Soup's On before Christmas.
Please join us. We will commence when the soup slurping ceases...probably close to 12:45 or slightly earlier.
We wont rush anybody.
See you Wednesday.
Jeannine
Please note that cleaning of the hall floors will take place following the post Soup's On carolling, Wednesday, December 18.
This does not effect the Bridge group in the library. Please use the far door in the library to exit allowing the floors to dry without being tracked on.
We will be locking the front door, or placing a sign that says no entry, after the carolling that is following Soup's On.
Any questions please contact:
