Thetis Island Pub is Still Hiring

Hello!

Thetis Island Marina and Pub still have some open positions to fill.

We are still looking for a Cleaner for the property and are also looking for a dishwasher/prep person to add to our kitchen.

Cleaner - would clean the suites when customers have checked out, the marina bathrooms, and the pub. Hours would be flexible and open to change depending on how frequently the suites are being used and your availability.

Dishwasher/Prep Person - does dishes in the kitchen along with doing food prep, making salads, and generally supporting the kitchen team.
This person does not need to be over 19 and they do not need any previous kitchen experience as we're happy to train.

Hours would be Thursday to Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoon and evenings.

If you are interested in either position, please email us at thetisislandresorts@gmail.com, call us at 250-246-3464, or stop by the pub and say hi!

Hope to hear from you!

Free Slip'n'slide

I purchased a slip'n'slide for my friend’s visit with her children (6 & 8yrs old). It’s 16 feet long. It was great fun for a few days. I would like to pass it on to anyone with little children. FREE

24 Ft Bayliner for Sale

Longtime Thetis resident of Pierre Perreault’s son Cylus is selling the following boat.

I’ve got a 24 foot Bayliner. It’s in almost new condition. The leg and engine were replaced fairly recently and I’ve got over $30,000 worth of receipts, it’s a really nice boat. I was hoping to get out one last fishing trip with dad but didn’t work out. I have it up for sale for $35,000.00 I’m hoping to get $30,000.00 for it. Has a high thrust. Yamaha kicker set up for Scotty’s, bravo three outdrive all the manifolds and mechanical and service was done this year.

If interested his phone is 250-709-8302 and email: cyluscv@gmail.com

Parade Poster Draw

The TIVFD is pleased to announce that ROHAN KAMATH, age 6, is the winner of the random poster draw for the Thetis Island Parade. Because Rohan is 6 years old, he could choose if he wanted a parent or guardian to ride with him in Engine 1 at the head of the parade, and he chose his 8-year-old sister Arana to accompany him. Please wave to Rohan as he passes you by and he will wave back.

The Parade starts at 1:30 pm on the dot from Mission Road, so if you are joining the parade with a float or group, place yourself in the line behind Engine 1 by 1:15 at the very latest. If you are going to the Book & Bake Sale at Forbes Hall on Saturday morning, why not put your parade entry in the lineup early and go and enjoy the delicious lunch that will also be available at Forbes Hall.

The Thetis Island Parade will travel (start at 1:30) from Mission Road, south along North Cove Road and turn left onto Pilkey Point Road, going down the big hill. It will then turn right onto Marina Drive past the boat launch and Telegraph Harbour Marina, go around the corner and take the shady part of Marina Drive back to Pilkey Point, and then back up the big hill and back to the fire hall on Mission Road.

EVERYONE must be aware that there may be other traffic on the road that doesn’t know about the Parade, and to be safe. We need to leave at 1:30 sharp to try to avoid the disembarking ferry traffic at around 2:30.

We are looking forward to fun, sun, safety and laughs. Although Sparky the Fire Dog doesn’t talk, I am sure Sparky will have some treats for the kids along the way if they call out “Hi Sparky”.

Fire Danger Rating

We knew it wouldn’t last long at MODERATE.

So, as of Friday, we are moving up to HIGH DANGER CLASS.

This means you must terminate your High-Risk Activities by 1 pm and post a 2-hour fire watch from Monday onwards. If you can possibly cease your High-Risk Activities by 1 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday you will be lowering the risk to the island even more.

Thank you for being fire safe and fire smart.

Weekend Fire Weather Forecast From Coastal Fire Centre

Thurs-Fri: Temperatures will continue to rise to above seasonal levels and will deliver clear, hot and dry conditions through the weekend. Temperatures are likely to peak throughout the Coastal Fire Centre on Friday and Saturday.

Sat-Mon: Potential storms Saturday into the Fraser and Pemberton zones along the Coastal Mountains. Smoke from U.S. fires could blanket the south and will be a potential “wildcard” for temperatures and storm development. Sunday, we expect max depth for thermal trough and potential for stronger wind gusts east of Coastal mountain range. A shift in wind is not expected. Hot and dry weather will continue.
