More Stuff Needed to Destroy

Thank you to those who donated doorknobs and lock mechanisms for our Forcible Entry drills. 

We are now looking for double hung windows and casement windows, with or without glass, that we can use to force entry into. If you have any that you don’t want, please drop them off at the firehall. 

We will train with them and then take them to Bings Creek when done.

Sea Star Count Reminder - Thursday, July 24th at 9:45 AM

Join us at 9:45 AM for the Annual Clam Bay Sea Star Count at 120 Clam Bay Road (Lamb residence). 

Park along Clam Bay Road and meet behind the house for a brief orientation. 

The beach is rocky and full of barnacles, so sturdy waterproof footwear is essential - a walking stick can also be helpful for balance. Don’t forget sun protection and a flashlight or headlamp.

Thetis Island Pork For Sale

We are raising pigs again this year and have just 2 pigs left to sell. These are pasture raised, happy pigs, living their best lives this summer on Thetis Island. They'll be munching on apples all fall. :)

If you would like some happy, healthy meat for your freezer, please get in touch! 

We'll be selling by the half or whole and they will be ready for pick up (cut, packaged and frozen) in late October.

Upcoming Bake Sale

The Book and Bake Sale is coming up once again, on Saturday August 2nd. 

We are looking for lots of goodies to tempt the book buyers. 

So, this is a reminder to start thinking about what you might like to contribute. Cookies, cakes, bread, squares, etc., and of course pies are always very popular.

Standing in the Shadows

Our EmCom roadway contractor, Joe Lange, has asked me to alert the ardent walkers on Thetis to please wear a HiViz vest, or at the very least, light coloured clothing when walking on our sun/shade dappled roads. You are invisible to drivers when wearing black or dark colours. 

Joe personally arranged for sixty HiViz vests last year for walking residents (it wasn’t EmCom) and hopes you didn’t put them away for the summer.
