Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:49PM Can you hold a camera or iphone steady and record a 4 minute video? Are you available on the evening of May 10th? Would you volunteer your expertise for a good cause?
If you answered "yes" to all these questions, we have the perfect job for you!
On May 10th at Thetis Island Marina & Pub, some of our local belly dance group will be performing a special Shimmy Mob dance as a fundraising for a local womens shelter and in celebration of International Belly Dance Day. This is a registered international event and we are required to video tape our performance to send in to the head Shimmy Mob organization for posting to their website. We need to find someone capable of filming a good quality video tape. We will make it as easy as possible by providing and setting up a camera and tripod but it does require someone who has some amateur videotaping experience because it can't be sideways, out of focus, headless or make anyone seasick to watch (you get the idea).
Please contact Kelly Bannister ASAP if you can help. Thank you!

Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:34PM The Thetis Island Phone Books are not free. They are a privately financed public service. Producing them takes months of work, considerable expense and real dedication. In recent years, this work has been headed and financed by Veronica Shelford.
Some phone books were recently accidentally distributed without charge. These books were not free--taken without payment, these books are an extra expense against the future production of phone books.
Unfortunately some mistakes do slip through and these are publicly corrected as soon as possible. Corrections are listed in the Thetis Island Quarterly which, unlike the privately produced phone books, is published by TICA as a fundraiser for Forbes Hall and all of our Community Centre.

Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:29PM Thetis Based Earth Moving Companies (Richard DeMarco and Steve Howard) have produced a new ferry schedule as a courtesy for Thetis islanders.
It is made of durable card stock. One per household has been sent out Thursday and Friday in the mail and extras can be picked up at the Thetis Ferry Bulletin Board, Mail pickup area and the Marina. Please feel free to take one for each car and for your fridge.
This schedule is more “user friendly” and easier to read for your convenience. Hope these are helpful to you.
