Free Seedlings

We have a number of Weeping and Curly Willow limbs/seedlings for rooting and planting.

They root very easily and can be potted or planted in the ground****

Note: These ornamentals are attractive and very good for wet and very wet ground areas. ****

They are not to be planted near home drainage systems or drainage pipes as their roots will travel to those areas.

These trees do require water, not good for dry areas.

If you would like some, contact us @ E-Mail; frankel@island.net or Phone 250-246-2099

Extinguisher Clinic and New Fire & Life Safety Trailer

The TIVFD is pleased to be able to bring the new Cowichan Valley Fire Chiefs' Association Fire & Life Safety Trailer to Thetis Island on Friday, May 9th.  The Trailer will be available to the school children in the morning, with Sparky giving a tour and a fire safety seminar.

The trailer will then be available for all residents to check out in the afternoon, starting at 1:00 o'clock.  At the same time, we will be putting on our annual Fire Extinguisher Clinic with live fire training by Aggressive Fire Safety.  Yes, there will be door prizes drawn again this year!  Bring your home fire extinguishers to the Fire Hall for a free inspection.  New extinguishers will also be available to purchase as well.

Wait, there's more!  Do you have the required Lot Number posted at the head of your driveway, numbers visible day and night from both directions and at least 6" (150 mm) in height?  Aggressive Fire Safety is selling Lot Address stakes that can be made up for your lot number, and you can order one when you come to the fire hall to practice extinguishing a fire with the training extinguisher.

And for those of you with a sweet tooth, Sidney Rukus from Chemainus (daughter of Fire Chief Neil Rukus) will be selling Girl Guide Cookies in front of the Thetis Island Fire Hall at 296 Mission Road, while the Extinguisher Clinic is on.

Mark May 9th on your calendar.  See you there!  1 pm for the extinguisher clinic.
