Forbes Hall – Lock Up When You’re Done

Recently doors have been left unlocked, or even ajar at Forbes Hall. All user groups and individuals using the building must follow the simple protocol of locking the doors, checking other doors if you’re the last to leave, and turning off the master.

Thanks

Ride to 11 AM ferry Sunday July 21

Hi! My husband and I and 3 pieces of luggage need a ride from 239 Pilkey Pt Rd. If anyone is going that way Sunday morning, we would appreciate a lift!

Please call us on our landline at 250 246 4527 if you can help (pick up time at your convenience). We will meet the ride at the road.

Thanks for your assistance, Ginny and Michael

P.S. We are in a cell phone shadow so texting etc doesn’t work.

Kids’ Poster Contest

We hope you are working on your drawing of you riding in the Fire Engine at the front of the Parade on August 3rd. Don’t forget to write your name and age on the back of the drawing, along with your parents’ contact information (let them do that for you). We are really looking forward to receiving your creations. There is a box in front of the fire hall labelled Parade Posters that you can drop your poster into.

Goosey Gander Shop

The Goosey Gander Shop will be open Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm this weekend. There are always lots of new and interesting items coming in for you to see. This week we got in some very funky fish slippers and a blue boat bowl and a glass seagull, even a Picasso ‘print’. There is also a wood carving tool set in a wood case, and lots of fabric too.

Come have a look!

Thank you,
Nan Beals

From the Library...

The book and bake sale annual fundraiser for the library is fast approaching. For the last two years, I have received book donations on the previous Thursday. This has worked well.
So, August 1, Thursday you can drop off your much appreciated book donations
at the hall. Front door or patio door. I will be there at 11. If this does not work for you let me know and we will work something out.

Thanks in advance.

Reminder: Kid's Stuff Exchange this Weekend!

This weekend is the kid's stuff exchange on Thetis! TICA has graciously lent us the pavilion for the weekend so drop off your used things that you no longer need or that your kids/grandkids have outgrown and choose something new! Sports goods, books, games, puzzles, toys, baby things, anything that is no longer right for your family but could be great for another.

Quite a few people have already reached out to let me know they are dropping off games, pack n' plays, toys and more! Come have a look and if you don't have anything to drop off, that's ok - you are welcome to see if there is anything for the kiddo in your life.

Drop off starting Friday evening. Anything left on Sunday afternoon will be loaded up for the thrift stores.

Please, please, please don't drop anything that you wouldn't bring to a thrift store yourself - if it's destined for the dump, please take it there.

Feel free to text me if you have questions!

Coastal Fire Weather Forecast for Weekend

Thurs-Fri: Hot and dry conditions continue in the Coastal Fire Centre, widespread sunshine is expected with temperatures down a couple of degrees thanks to stronger onshore flow and slightly stronger winds today. A trough swings in from the south early Friday morning generating a chance of light showers for Mid Island northwards. The more notable impact from the passing feature will be increased winds and deeper inflow.

Sat-Mon:
A slight risk of thunderstorms midday Sunday along the Coast Range of the Mid Coast including Tweedsmuir Park. The ridge reaches peak strength on Saturday yielding our highest temperatures of the stretch while Relative Humidity falls slightly. A large upper low slowly approaches the Coast Sunday into Monday marking a gradual transition to cooler temperatures. Precipitation remains confined to the far northern reaches of the Fire Centre.
