Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 7:38AM Thanks to all the boaters who decorated their boats and spent the afternoon cruising around the island. The weather was gorgeous, and the turnout was great! It’s encouraging to see this Thetis tradition regaining life again! I’ll look forward to seeing even more boats next year.
A shout-out to all you Islanders who expressed your Canadian spirit and cheered us on from the shoreline . The Sail Past wouldn’t be the same without you!

Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 7:37AM I'm looking for a responsible, loving and trustworthy person to take care of Brownie, my super sweet and calm elderly dog, for 2 months ( 27th September to 30th November ) here in Thetis Island
It can be house sitting (staying in my house with her) or taking care of her in your own home, or other possibilities that will be good for everyone
If you love animals and are available, or know someone trustworthy who can help, get in touch:
(250) 210-2185

Friday, July 4, 2025 at 7:36AM SYNOPSIS: Over the next couple of days, a slight increase in temperatures and dry conditions continuing. A SW flow over the Coastal Fire Centre holds through the rest of the week and for the weekend. Conditions are relatively static with the southern areas, including Vancouver Island seeing the warmest temperatures. Some showers and cooler temps are expected in the northern areas, but the rest of the zone will remain mostly sunny. Relative humidity (RH) values will be lowest in the SE and along the eastern border of the Fire Centre. Minimum RH values will be in the 20-30% range over the next few days. Winds will pick up slightly on Friday afternoon through the south.
OUTLOOK: A SW flow continues over the southern half of the province and throughout the Coastal Fire Centre. There’s not a lot of change throughout the weekend. Temperatures will increase by a degree or two through the south with Sunday and Monday looking like the hottest days. No moisture is expected through the weekend or to start next week. This period won’t see big swings up or down in regard to temperatures and minimum RH values but drying will be consistent.

Friday, July 4, 2025 at 7:34AM Last Wednesday evening (June 25, 2025), the Community Assembly's IEWG hosted their first Indigenous Film. Kuper Island - Return to Healing Circle (1997), introduced by Elder James Charlie himself. The almost 30 residents who attended were respectful and listened intently, with ages ranging from the 20s to the 80s. Their questions showed significant consideration and disbelief that this had happened in Canada, let alone on the island just south of where they currently lived. Elder James Charlie's answers were succinct and brutally honest as he shared his people's history.
We were very grateful that he missed his ferry and stayed late to finish the film and did an extended Q&A.
The IEWG is planning the 2nd Indigenous film in this series, Penelakut - Returning to the Healing Circle (2021) for tentatively planned for late July, please watch for our post and plan to come to listen and learn from the featured Elder and his family.
