Work BC Presentation Nov. 29th, Forbes Hall

Let's consider the following scenarios:

•       Everyone wants a resume. Yours needs to be updated, but you want help.

•       Maybe you want to start your own business, what support is there for you?

•       The sawmills on Smiley Road are hiring but you need forklift certification to get proper consideration.

•       You get a job but they reject your steel toed boots, getting new ones is more than you can afford.

•       The ferry cost is just one more thing that you cannot afford until you have a few paychecks.

Johnna Puusa from WorkBC will be on Thetis Island (Forbes Hall - Wednesday November 29th 10:30-11:30). There are many ways the government will support you.

WorkBC connects job seekers and employers – helping people find jobs, explore career options and improve their skills, and helping employers find the right talent and grow their businesses.

This event is sponsored by the Forbes Hall Health Services Committee, please contact David Reay 778-899-3216 if you have any questions.

The Toroa, the Boat that Pete Built

In the late 50’s Pete Rees built the beautiful sailboat, Toroa.

The current owners of the boat who live in Monterey, California, are researching the history of the boat, and got in touch via www.thetisposts.ca (the Blog), following their discovery of the memorial announcement for Audree.

Pete and Audree’s nephew, is contacting the owners to help them with their research on the Toroa.

Please enjoy the lovely photo of the Toroa they have shared – she’s still going strong 60+ years after being built.
