Hello, this is Kevin (former Postmaster). I am currently living in Chemainus but the building I am living in has been sold. All the residents have to be out by March 1.

Saturday Xmas Market

Season’s Greetings to all my fellow Thetis Islanders.

I realize that during this busy holiday season, all of you will have many more things to think about other than donating your USED POSTAGE STAMPS to the BC Cancer Society.

HOWEVER there is always a need for support for this worthy cause.

This coming Saturday (Dec. 9th) I, along with Diane, Gloria and Anne-Marie will be having a Xmas market at 161 Pilkey Point Rd. starting at 10:00 am where we will be selling our Thetis Island homemade items from Kuddle Kitties to Cookies!!! A terrific selection of unique gifts for yourself, family or friends.
Great way to spend a rainy Saturday!!!

Capernwray Harbour Ferry Traffic on Thursday, December 14, 2023

Dear Island Neighbours,

The Capernwray Harbour students will be leaving for their Christmas break on Thursday, December 14, 2023. The majority of students will be leaving on the 6am and 7:55am ferries. Students will be returning on January 14, 2024 on scattered afternoon ferries. We hope this helps in your travel plans.

Free Swivel Chair

Free large dark brown leather swivel lounge chair on heavy metal base. Sturdy and comfortable, won’t tip if you (or children) spin around on it. Surface of leather is starting to crack and peel but otherwise it’s solid. Pick up 90 Pilkey point.

Complimentary Travel Departing Chemainus Saturday, December 9, 2023

The BC Ferries’ Route 20 vessel has been recently renamed the Pune’luxutth in the spirit of reconciliation. 

In recognition of the name change, BC Ferries will be offering complimentary travel and cookies at the Chemainus ticket booth throughout the day on Saturday, December 9, 2023, when the vessel returns to service early afternoon. 

Pune’luxutth is the Hul’qumi’num’ word for Penelakut and was the name chosen by Penelakut Tribe. The vessel has been serving the Chemainus-Thetis-Penelakut route since 2007 and over the past few months has been in its five-year dry-docking and refit. This is where it also went through the process of a name change.

No change in schedule is expected for the day. The Pune’luxutth will follow its original schedule beginning Sunday, December 10, 2023. 

Return to Service for the Pune'luxutth (formerly MV Kuper)

The Pune'luxutth will return to service on Route 20 at mid-day on Saturday December 9th, and will complete the day's sailings on the interim schedule.

On Sunday, December 10th, the Pune'luxutth will return to the regular schedule.
