Bouquet of Flowers Wanted

Athenia's Hobbit Garden Party birthday is coming up this Monday! To stay true to our commitment to an environmentally friendly lifestyle, I'm skipping store-bought decorations. Instead, I'm looking for a couple of simple flower bouquets to use as party decor. Even flowers that are past their prime, they just need to last the day would be perfect. I could pick up Monday morning.

Why is it named Telegraph Harbour?

Further research into the naming of Telegraph Harbour has revealed that the name Preedy Harbour is possibly associated with the naming of the adjacent harbour.
Preedy Harbour was named by the Admiralty hydrographic office in 1853 after George William Preedy who served in HMS Constance under Captain Richard Courtney, on the Pacific Station, 1846-1849.

Preedy was made a CB ( Companion of the Order of the Bath ) in 1858; as when captain of HMS Agamemnon he helped to lay the first trans-Atlantic telegraph cable; a project that was completed in 1858.

The first known chart with the name Telegraph Harbour by Captain G H Richards is dated 1858-1860. Richards would have had on board all charts that had been drawn up by surveyors that had preceded his position on station.

As Richards was most likely aware Preedy had been on the Pacific Station prior to his own time; 1857-1862, and most likely aware of his involvement in laying the trans-Atlantic telegraph cable, it’s likely he named Telegraph Harbour in honour of his fellow officer.

Fire Weather Forecast for Coastal Zone

Sat-Mon: On Saturday conditions remain cool and breezy. An upper low will produce showers and a risk of thunderstorms, mostly on the Mainland. Rainfall totals are variable with 5-20 mm for Mainland zones and trace to 5 mm on Vancouver Island. Winds will be from the west-southwest and light to moderate. Temperatures will drop into the low teens. Sunday will be mostly dry with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures will return to near seasonal and winds will remain moderate west to southwest inflow. On Monday, another low tracks south through the area bringing more showers or periods of rain for Mid Coast with precipitation spreading southwards through the Fire Centre late in the day.

Tues-Sat (6 to 10 day):

Starting Tuesday and into Wednesday, an upper low over the south will bring scattered showers and cool temperatures. Weak ridging for Haida Gwaii will produce dry conditions and a slight increase in temperatures to the north. Weak ridging spreads mid-week and into Thursday, expect seasonal temps and a slight chance of showers.
