Jollity looking for a North Van pick up!

We purchased a compact stove vent via Marketplace, but unfortunately missed a previous pick up opportunity. If anyone is coming over to Thetis from North Van. sometime in the near future, or doing a visit over there, would you consider lending us a hand (and a bit of space in your vehicle!)?

It isn't too bulky or heavy (approx. 36" long x 20: high x 4" deep). We can send you the address and contact info for the pickup.

It's getting harder to get away from the farm now that spring has begun! Thanks in advance if you are able to help out.

More info: SOAS Spring Recital, March 24th

Here is some clarity on how the evening will unfold:

Doors will open at 6:30pm and the recital will begin round about 7pm.  First there will be some videos from Tanzania showing the School Orchards Africa projects.  Then Ron will delight everyone with his playing and then Gerhard will thrill everyone with his harp (and various other instruments - because he's so multitalented).

From 7:40 until about 8pm will be intermission with tea, coffee and dessert (low key, unhurried and relaxed). This event does not include dinner, there is no potluck, nobody has to bring anything ( So eat dinner before you come).

At about 8pm comes The Songbird of Vienna which is 50 minutes long.  A word to parents: although the content is thoroughly family friendly, this show is for adults.  It may be too long and too complex for younger children.  Please consider the enjoyment of other audience members who will be trying to listen without distraction.

For this SOAS event there is no set ticket price.  So, no pressure.  Entry is purely by donation.

Please come and enjoy the evening.

Post Office Update and Info

Sorry for such a long lapse but we have been waiting to see how 'the water settles' so we can give you concrete information.

As everyone is aware Zola has retired and Kevin O'Brien took her place.  Then Kevin betrayed me (Fred) by showing he had a ton of other skills that the Marina sorely needs.  Ergo he has now been promoted to a manager at the marina.  All kidding aside, good on you Kevin it is much needed.

Liz Avery has now replaced Kevin (although Kevin still fills gaps as needed).  Liz has caught on quickly and is doing a great job given how short a time she has been in the position.  The one thing that became clear to Fred and Kevin in his training and then in Liz's is how much straight memorization is involved.  Fred has been here coming on 10 months and still doesn't have it all.  Liz is doing fantastic, but it is going to take her awhile to get all of the little bits in place.

We get letters with no box numbers just lot numbers.  We get letters with just names and the postal code.  We get letters with just a first name and Thetis Island.  We have a mix of box numbers both old and new.  Sorting all of that out takes a while.

Thanks to Michele Black and the yeoman's duty she did in creating our updated spreadsheet we are now able to make an application to Canada Post to get proper post office boxes.  On that note we are in the queue to get boxes when another post office changes out their old boxes (the ones we want). Fred will keep you posted sometime this week with an update.

Please welcome Liz and give her a hand as needed.  She is part of the crew keeping the post office on Thetis Island.

One of the many upsides of our weekly trips to True Grain in Cowichan Bay.... sometimes while we wait.... we must sample yummy things! The Organic Chocolate Salted Pecan Spelt Brownies are just too much! We've
added them to the order form this week.

Local dairy and baking orders due by 5pm on Monday please. Grocery pick up from 49th Parallel, Superstore and Community Farm Shop - please confirm with us by Wednesday afternoon.

With thanks,

Bell

Thank you to the one who attached a butterfly bell to the memorial tree on Moore Hill viewpoint.  Was very delighted with it. Sweet.
