Dear Neighbours,
Have you heard about the Canada Greener Homes Grant?
The grant provides up to $5,000 in funding to homeowners for energy-efficient home upgrades, including insulation, air sealing, and the installation of high-efficiency heating and cooling systems. Additionally, homeowners may be eligible for up to $600 for an energy assessment to identify areas of their home where improvements can be made.
We’ve taken the first steps in applying for the grant:
1. Ensure your Thetis property is your primary address (on your driver’s license)
2. Apply online. See link here.
3. Have a licensed Energuide Home Evaluation done at your home.
We’ve already booked our evaluation for Friday April 14th in the morning. The cost to just have them come to the island is $350. However, if you’d like to get your home inspected on the same day, we can split the cost(s). They have room in their day for 3-4 appts.
For more information about the Canada Greener Homes Grant, please visit the Natural Resources Canada website.
Let's work together to create a more sustainable and energy-efficient community!
Cheers!

The Soup’s On Team
Local elected officials will be coming to meet with Islanders and Island organizations. Please come out to hear what they have to say and to share your opinions on issues that are important to you.
Visit during Soup’s On with Doug Routley (MLA) and Peter Luckham (Islands Trust Trustee).
After Soup's on there will be a more formal meeting. In addition to Doug and Peter, Alistair MacGregor (MP) and Ken Hunter (Islands Trust Trustee) will be at Forbes Hall for the formal meeting.
From 1:30 to 3:30 community groups will be making presentations about issues they are facing. This will be followed by responses from Federal and Provincial politicians.
Time may allow for interested individuals to bring up issues (I have received two email submissions already).

Thank you to everyone who came out to help with the holly pull at Fairyslipper Nature Reserve this weekend!
A group of 19 community members clipped, pulled, and piled an estimated total of 20 cubic metres (or 3 VM Beatles). Also, thanks to those who lent their tools, and to Greg Gall (and Woody the wood-chipper) who helped us make short work of those holly heaps.
