Apologies to anyone who has tried unsuccessfully to drop off ballots at the post office.
Sometimes Fred and/or Zola are away from the PO, and others step in to help and may not be up to speed on arrangements.
Islanders using the mail ballot are encouraged to address their ballots, and post without a stamp, in the Canada Post red box at mailbox shed.
Fred and Zola will ensure they are placed in the locked ballot box, inside the post office during the sort.
Thank you for voting.
TIRRA
About 4pm Sunday, I swerved my Alfa Romeo vintage Spider, to miss a truck, hit a curb instead, flattening 2 tires, Tow trucks were 2 hours wait. A Samaritan, Paul, asked if he could help, he was from Germany and staying on Thetis Island. He drives a newer VW dark coloured bus, and has sleeping quarters in the back.
I was certain I had a bag of personal effects, tools etc, a parcel to be mailed, transferred to his vehicle, but forgot to take it out. He said he lived on Thetis Island but was leaving for Germany tomorrow (Tuesday). He is tall and blond. If you know him or can reach him, please help!

On behalf of the SOAS directors, we'd like to thank everyone for such overwhelming support at our Homegrown fundraiser. From the food and gift contributions , to help with set-up, clean up and entertainment it was a beautifully orchestrated event. What an amazing community we have. Contributions are still coming in, so we'll wait awhile to give you our final count. But it is very impressive.
A few items have shown up that need a home : a small Pyrex pie plate, a black and white striped tea towel, a salad dressing jar with a green checkered lid.
Gone missing: a stainless ladle, French made.
Again, thanks so much for making the evening such a success.
With gratitude,
Maureen and Wayne
Your Winter Concert organizers would like help setting up chairs, tables and a stage, either late Dec 9 or early Dec 10th.
We would like volunteers to help with the refreshments and clean-up Dec 10, from 2:30 to 4:00 and 5:00-6:00.
We would also like an idea of who is willing to bring finger sized goodies by 3:00 Dec 10th to share that afternoon.
Please contact Margaret at slowrando@yahoo.ca with your availability and enthusiasm and mark your calendars for the 3:00 Mingle and 4:00 Concert Dec 10 at Forbes Hall.

Pick up will be at Soup’s On.

Hello, on Friday evening, at the SOAS event, our ladle went missing.... dun dun duuun. Normally, we would not really mind if a ladle disappeared, but this one has sentimental value. It is a solid stainless-steel ladle with a long handle. I am not sure if there are any markings on it, but it might say: "Stainless Steel, Rostfrei Inox". We've checked the kitchen and the beverage station at Forbes Hall from top to bottom and despite the abundance of ladles there, ours is not one of them (although some look similar)! It was last seen in the Rajma (Indian red kidney bean dish) :)
For anyone who attended the SOAS event and finds themself in possession of an unfamiliar ladle, please get in touch with us at 778 223 6647.
Thanks,
Charlotte and Sahir
