Boat Ramp – House Moving – Date change from Dec. 2 to Dec. 14

Just to let anyone know that might be wanting to use the boat launch on the morning of Dec 14, 2022 that Nickel Bros. will be barging in our house that day, so we have to ask that no trailers be parked there that morning instead of Dec. 2.

I am really sorry for any inconvenience this might cause.

Forbes Hall Library

Each week there are scheduled times when a volunteer library attendant is on duty.

We look forward to having you join us, we’re there to answer questions, talk about ideas, and generally there to help you out, if needed.  On Sundays we offer tea and goodies – a happy place to meet for a chat with fellow island bibliophiles.

Hours:

Saturday 10:00 am until 1:00 pm

Sunday 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm

Monday 10:00 am until 1:00 pm

The library is always open after 10:00 am when there is a Community Activity at the hall and the entry door is open.  We have a simple honour system for signing out books and DVDs, instructions are at the sign out desk.  If you need help, ask the attendant on duty.  For returns when the building is closed, please use the drop box by the Courtside Entrance.

We hope you enjoy our lovely little island library.

Celine,

your volunteer librarian

PO Boxes Information (finally!)

Canada Post is moving on getting us more postal boxes and I have a very good contact who is working for us on this project.  Things are moving but it will be done in stages.  The first stage is we need to register all current box holders.  Everyone who owns a box must come in and present proof of ownership of their property and an Id to the postmasters to register. The following is acceptable to register a PO Box:

-  Driver’s license with address

-  Utility bill, phone bill with address

-  Tax assessment

-  Care card or Provincial ID card with address

Anyone who wishes a PO box can come in and register on a separate sheet.  Once we get all 230 current boxes registered and, hopefully, a large registration of people who want boxes.  We will have a strong case to get more boxes.  This process will go through ‘til Christmas, and when it is processed, we will then go to the next stage of acquiring the boxes.

Slow but sure, but we are getting there

Forbes Hall : Another Successful Vaccination Clinic!

We had a large turnout for vaccination day and the day went smoothly. The vaccination team from Island Health worked through any issues and computer glitches. Booking appointment times maintained a steady manageable flow of clients and ensured that the vaccination team came with sufficient supplies of vaccines.158 Islanders came to Forbes Hall for vaccinations. 138 flu vaccines and 85 covid vaccines were administered.

Thanks to the Thetis Island Community Fund for supplying post vaccine snacks as well as lunch for the vaccination team. Thanks also to the volunteers who came out to help the Health Group make it all come together:

Guk Sarioglu, Don Sinclair, Sue French, Georgina Maule, Erin Mawson, and Kathleen McGarvey (thanks Kathleen also for volunteering to join the Health Committee).
