House Arriving by Barge on January 19

It is now confirmed that our house will be arriving by barge on Thursday, January 19th. This will make the boat launch and parking inaccessible for some hours starting in the early morning.

If possible, please refrain from parking there to allow the big trucks to maneuver.

Thank you,

Shelley and Dennis Harder

Looking for an Outline Transparent Image of Thetis Island

Happy New Year, Thetis Islanders,

I am working on a project and am looking for an outline of Thetis Island map (PNG / transparent). An outline is ideal but would also be happy with one with contour lines.

If you have one or know where to find one/make one, please email me at
charlotte@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org

Best,
Charlotte

Trail News

The Lawrence (Community) Trail - thank you to the person who dispensed with the very bushy cedar that fell across the Kenwood end of the Lawrence Trail.  In an attempt to alleviate the accumulating rain on this trail, we’ve left cedar boughs on the path to “mat” up some of the water.  Please leave the branches as they are to see if this helps make the path more navigable.

Lawrence Valley Loop - Due to intermittent flooding in the meadow area,  this trail section will be closed.  The Loop can still be approached from the Dingly Dell Trail.

Food Drive: Final Count

Thetis Islanders donated over 800 lbs. (more than 363 Kg.) of groceries, over 100 pairs of warm socks, many needed toiletries and much appreciated small gifts, as well as several cheques to the Harvest House Food Bank over the past month.  Harvest House helps our local families and those in need in Chemainus.

Thank you all for your generosity, and thank you, Rodney and Myrna, for transport and distribution.

Happy New Year to you all from the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department.--
Fire Chief J. Caldbeck
