Post Office Mail Sort

Just received 5 days of mail and packages at 1400 on Friday.  Will focus on getting the letters sorted, and in the boxes Saturday, and as many parcels as possible.  Should have all of the parcels and everything caught up by Monday afternoon.  Try your luck on the parcels Saturday but won't guarantee I will have them all sorted.

NOTE:  Hours of operation are Monday to Saturday 0930 to 1700.  Usually up at the boxes between 10:00 and 11:30.  Try and take a half hour lunch sometime between 1130 and 1230.

COVID Clinic: Thank You's

The Forbes Hall Health Services Group would like to thank the Thetis Island Community Fund for their continued support of Vaccination Clinics on Thetis Island.  Their support provides snacks and beverages for the Clinic clients, as well as lunches for the nurses and the all-day volunteers.  Feeding the nurses a great lunch keeps them coming back with smiles!  And we do want them to continue coming back – Thetis is one of the few clinics that they are always pleased to work at.

Also, thanks to Nancy Sinclair for making a scrumptious zucchini cake to finish up their lunch with – they truly enjoyed it.

ThINC AGM - Sunday, September 25th

Dear fellow Thetis Islanders,

The ThINC team invites you to attend our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, September 25th at 2 pm in the Nature House at the Portal (254 North Cove Road). Join us to hear about our activities over the year and what we have planned for the coming months, share some refreshments, and vote (or join!) our Board of Directors.

In order to vote at the AGM, ThINC memberships must be current for the 2022 year. If you enjoy our nature education programs, walk the trail at the Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve, value the protection of the Moore Hill Nature Reserve, have a screech owl box on your property, benefit from our BC Community Bat program, visit the People's Apothecary Garden, or appreciate our other stewardship, conservation, sustainability and community food security initiatives, we hope you will become or renew your membership using the linked membership form (below) or at the AGM.  The annual membership fee remains at $20 for an individual or family and $5 for a youth membership.
On the day of the AGM, please park at Heneage House or the Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve parking lot and walk down.

We'd love new board members to join our board. We're an easy-going enthusiastic bunch dedicated to nature. If you are interested in becoming a ThINC director and have questions, contact Ann at 250-246-8176 or email us at info@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org or simply attend the AGM.
We're grateful for your past and ongoing support for nature and conservation on Thetis Island. We look forward to seeing you on September 25th.

The ThINC team

Looking for Ukrainian Speakers

We are hosting a Ukrainian family.  A couple and their 7-year-old daughter.  We hope to bring them to our Thetis cabin on Bella Vista Rd. and thought it would be nice if they could meet some Ukrainian speakers on the Island.  Their English is "fair", but it is a struggle for them to engage in complex conversations and a relief for them to be able to converse with locals in their native language.

Another Successful COVID Vaccine Clinic

Thanks to all who came and made Wednesday's COVID vaccine clinic such a success. It was the first one organised by the Forbes Hall Health Services Group.

Special thanks to all who volunteered - Sahir Advani, Helen Bird, Rod Brownlee, Sue and Tim French, Bill Golley, Bev Greene, Matt and Claire Hess, Andy Lamb, Georgina Miller, Grete Wilkinson, Don Sinclair, and Nancy Woolven.

And of course, Veronica Shelford who not only volunteered on the day but helped coordinate registration with VIHA which was no easy feat!

Finally, Fire Chief Jeannine who provided much needed information from previous clinics regarding supplies etc.

We actually had too many volunteers, but it is rare a community can say that! We now have a better idea for next time. Thanks again to all who came out.

See everyone at the next vaccine clinic likely the end of October - flu and COVID vaccine shots. Date to be determined!
