Airline Credit

The Thetis Island Fire Department has a $260. flight credit with Pacific Coastal Airlines that MUST be used before March 2022.  They would not refund us for a flight booked in 2020.  However, they will allow a 3rd party to use the credit to fly any of their routes.  Destinations here: https://www.pacificcoastal.com/

Please contact chief11@telus.net if you can use the credit before March (new regulations = vaccinated).  Donation to the TIVFD FF Society appreciated but not expected.  Thanks.

Update to the Community Concert Performers, and the Quick Check-in List

The concert is shaping up quite nicely. Here a glimpse of the

singing (Penelope and Craig), Belly dancing (Char), piano pieces (Anika
and Levi), shadow puppet adaptation of the Gift of the Magi (Simone),
poetry (Mary), and audience sing-along accompanied by Lynn. Let me know
if you would like to be part of the program. The concert is on Saturday,
18th December at 7 pm at the Community Centre. Doors open at 6:30 pm

If you would like to add your name to the quick check-in list for the
concert, please bring your proof of vaccination to Soups-on today,
between Noon and 1pm and ask for Marjan Jackman. Alternatively, come see
me at the library on Sunday, 5th December 1 - 2 pm. This is not
required nor mandatory, anyone with proof of vaccination can attend the
concert, as per PHO orders. Masks will need to be worn.

The Thetis Society of the Perplexed December Curriculum

In four weekly sessions in December 2021 (2,9,16,23) the Thetis Society of the Perplexed (TSOP) will present “Jesus and the Foundation of Western Civilization.”  The series consists of Introduction and four parts:  Jesus and Cyrus the Great, Jesus and Alexander the Great, Jesus and Constantin the Great and finally, Jesus and Justinian the Great.  The presentation will cover two historical periods – first, the occurrence of mankind on the Planet Earth, and second, the period of one thousand years, from 500 BCE to 500 CE.  It will be presented both from the secular and religious points of view, but primarily from extra-biblical sources.

Thetis Grown Hand-Dyed Yarn and Spinning Fibre

Loads of island grown and hand dyed fresh colours of yarn and roving are available for sale now. I have a small flock of fibre sheep raised here on Thetis and I partner with my friend who farms on Pender. Together, we send our mostly BFL, Cotswold, Romney fleeces to a mill to be made into yarn or roving and when it comes back, I hand dye it.

This is 100% wool yarn. We breed for softness and lustre and the mill spins a beautiful soft spun lopi yarn as well as 2 ply worsted weight yarn. I also have 100% Dorset roving from a farm in the interior.

My colours are soft and vibrant, and each dye lot is unique.

I will have my season's offerings at the Thetis Marina Restaurant on December 4 along with lots of locally made art cards and Keya White's Thetis Island stickers.

Please stop by and have a look on Saturday!

Thank you for your interest,
Emily

Share a Ride for the Christmas Tour

Just had a lovely couple contact me from Chemainus and they are wondering if anyone on Thetis is willing to drive them around the Christmas Tour. They have a service dog so extra room is needed. If you can accommodate them I will get their number so you can talk directly to them.
thanks
