 - Home Grocery delivery from Superstore, Community Farm Shop or 49th - confirm your order by Thursday afternoon
 - Kale, Carrots, Beets, Preserves and Salads on Saturday

Saul, Leslie Donovan

1925-2022

The Great Brown Tiger of Thetis Island will roar no more. 

Radio amateur VE7GBT, Les Saul, a resident of Thetis Island since 1983, and a radio amateur since 1947, died on February 3rd, 2022 in Victoria, BC. Born in St James, Manitoba, he served on the destroyer HMCS Gatineau as a signalman, in WWII in the English Channel. Prior to retirement he published a weekly newspaper, was employed in radio and television news and in public relations for the federal government. Predeceased by his wife of 63 years Frances (Cliffe) in October 2013, he is survived by daughters Jennifer LeBlanc (Chad), of Victoria, Patricia Sumner (Colin), of Bridlington, England, and son Donovan of Thetis Island, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Interment will be in the family plot on Thetis Island at Forbes Hall, on Monday, February 21, 2022  at 11:30 a.m.

Masks will be required at the service, and unfortunately due to Public Health restrictions, no reception will take place after the service.

Sunday Library

The library will be open Sunday from 1:00 until 4:00. 

The attending volunteer is vaccinated and requests that patrons also be vaccinated against COVID 19.
Masks are mandatory. Physical distancing is required.

Tour de Thetis

A sunny day is predicted for tomorrow's Tour de Thetis.

Whether you ride a traditional or e-bike, you join highly informal Team Thetis by just showing up.

We will submit our accumulated 'mileage' to BC's Winter GoByBike Week (Feb. 7 to 13) for possible 'great prizes'.

The free 30 km ride (not a race) starts at 9.30 a.m. at the community hall and, in this order, visits to the ends of North Cove Rd., Forbes Dr., Bella Vista Rd. (via Foster Pt. Rd.), Sunrise Point and Pilkey Point roads, before returning to the hall.

There's no minimum speed or distance required. For example, riders may skip Sunrise and Pilkey Points because of steep grades.

Wear your helmet. Riders are responsible for their own safety and nourishment.
