Does anyone have a vacuum sealer I could borrow or rent on Wednesday this week?
I am happy to pay for bags or other supplies/ use.
Thanks in advance,

I will also have a very small number of lamb sides available in a couple of weeks. $10/lb of hanging weight. If you are interested in reserving a side, let me know. If you would prefer to buy individual pieces, let me know that as well.

Citizen Survey - and now please complete the Islands Trust Budget Survey (please note this is not from the Island's Trust)

Thank you for participating in the recent Citizen Survey on the Islands Trust Budget.

First, let me assure you that I am very aware of the need to protect your privacy and am reaching out to you only to share an update on the survey. If you do not want further correspondence, please opt out by replying this email address.

2 simple reasons for sending this:

-        To thank you and show you the results of the Citizen Survey.

-        To urge you to participate just as fully in the Islands Trust Budget survey (closes Sunday, February 6th, 11:59 p.m.)

-        https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JM8KZLM

I think we can agree that together we have had a significant impact on the Islands Trust budgeting process.

-        The need for earlier consultation has been agreed by the trustees.

-        There was an extensive discussion at the Financial Planning Meeting (January 19th) about the format of the Islands Trust survey – both the questions and the layout of the financial information.

-        The Islands Trust Budget webinar (Jan 27th) was a new concept in engaging with the community.

However, the Islands Trust budget process is not complete yet for this year – we still have an opportunity to make sure that our message gets through clearly.

(Survey closes Sunday, February 6th, 11:59 p.m.)

Regards and thank you again for participating,

Mairead Boland

Citizen Survey Comments

I have attached a complication of all 327 comments (there were 544 respondents to the survey) so that you can re-use your comment if you would like. No names listed of course so you will have to scroll to find it – the date and island will help you – or email me back to find it for you.

Looking for Rental Accommodation

My tenancy ends May or June this year. I would like to keep staying on Thetis Island . The accommodation would be for myself and part time for my children so I would like at least 2 bedrooms but 3 would be preferable. I can be reached at the Post Office between 9 and 5 Monday to Friday at 250 246-3464 or come see me in person. My cell number is 250 246-7917 but Cell service is spotty so leave a message.

Jollity - Weekly Order Reminders + Price Changes

As you may have noticed on your grocery bills or heard about on the radio, some food costs are on the rise.
Much of this is due to drought, heat domes, flooding or covid-related supply issues and this is really affecting grain costs.

Our dairy and bakery suppliers have all raised prices across the board by $1, so we will also have to adjust our pricing. If you manage your own regular monthly subscription payments, we'll send you an email to share the new costs, otherwise you will see the price changes reflected on your invoices or receipts. Thank you for continuing to choose local and supporting Thetis & Vancouver island growers, makers and food providers!

For Friday home delivery or Saturday farm pick up:

 - Local Milk & Yogurt order changes or add-ons due by Monday evening
 - True Grain bakery orders due by Monday evening
 - Free Range Eggs
 - Home Grocery delivery from Superstore, Community Farm Shop or 49th - confirm your order by Thursday afternoon

*Pastries are back Saturday, Feb. 5. (prices have not changed on these :) Pre-order Pain au chocolate and Croissants.
*Dumplings available this week! Shrimp & Chive or Vegan.

With thanks, Jollity Farmers

This trail is now open.

The potentially dangerous tree has been dealt with and the boardwalk, which floated out of position by floodwaters, will be re-positioned at a future date.

Tour de Thetis

The Tour de Thetis will be held February 12, 9.30 a.m., starting and finishing at the community hall.

This free event for cyclists of all fitness and skill levels was postponed at Christmas because of poor weather.

This new date happens during Winter Go By Bike Week. Its aim is to spread the joy of using bikes for everyday transportation. Some 56,000 BC riders took part the last time out.

We will enter ‘Thetis Cycling Team’ results (distance accumulated by all riders) for a chance at ‘winning great prizes’.

For more, contact Fred Clark 250 246 9175 or Dave Steen 250 246 3530
