We are excited and pleased to welcome our Thetis Island friends and neighbours onto our property once again!
Please come for a visit and enjoy the lawns, gardens, gazebos, trails or waterfront and say hello to our friendly staff. Meals at our Main Hall will once again be available for sign-in by Islanders (with advanced notice). Feel free to attend a session or two in our Lecture Hall too!
The health and safety of our neighbours, friends, guests, staff and volunteers continues to be of utmost importance to us. Please abide by the below conditions if you would like to come for a visit:
- You or your visiting family and friends are welcome, however we continue to be closed to the general public (i.e. walk-ons from the ferry line up)
- Please CHECK IN AT OUR MAIN OFFICE each time you come onto the property
- Please SIGN OUR ONLINE WAIVER in advance of your arrival (your submitted waiver will be good until the end of August, so no need to sign every time):
- If you would like to SIGN IN TO A MEAL at our Main Hall please do so through our office 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE, along with submitting a SIGNED COVID SCREENING FORM online:
- Please do not visit the property if you are experiencing or have experienced any symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days
- Please respect the privacy of our accommodation areas and comply with all signage in this regard
- At this time the Fitness Room continues to be closed to visitors
We are grateful for this new season and the ability to connect with one another again, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
For those Islanders who may not be aware, Viper Fuels, in Chemainus, will fill 100 lb propane tanks on Thetis Island, unlike Superior. They just need enough business to make the trip worthwhile.
With a DG trip coming up this Thursday, give them a call (250-246-1838) and schedule your 100 lb refill (or larger) at a very reasonable price. Plus, they are a local company that should be supported by us locals.

Dear Thetis Islanders,
A number of you have reached out with great care and concern asking if there is some way to contribute indirectly to the two healing sessions for residential school survivorsto be hosted by Penelakut Tribe on July 28 and Aug 4. I have inquired with one of the Penelakut organizers about what would be most helpful at this point. The Band office is accepting general donations of support. As well, there are specific requests for travel support starting to come in from residential school survivors who will have to travel to attend one or both sessions. At the suggestion of our Penelakut contact, to expedite the creation of a travel bursary fund, Michelle Black and I are coordinating e-transfers of financial donations from our Thetis community directly to the bursary recipients, under the direction of our Penelakut contact.
The first request we will try to meet is for $200 for an individual who attended Kuper Island Residential school and is from Snaw-naw-as/Nanoose Bay. He is traveling from East Vancouver with a relative for the July 28 session. If we meet this request, we will offer to support additional requests one by one so as not to raise false hopes for travelers. If you are interested to support this little travel bursary arrangement please contact Michelle or me (Kelly) by July 31 as follows (text or call): Michelle 250-715-8942 or Kelly 250-252-0111. Donations of $20 or more will be appreciated to limit the transactions.
Thank you so much for considering this invitation.

Thank you to everybody that helped look for Levi.
He has arrived home safe and sound.
He is in good shape, very tired.
Thank you

Thank you to all those who have said that they will be bringing donations of freshly baked goodies for the sale.
Could you please have them packaged and priced when you bring them in.
We do have a few sandwich bags for those who are not able to package them. If you could please bring them in before 9:30 on the Sat morning July 31, that would be appreciated.
We will definitely be there around 8:30 am. We will gratefully accept last minute donations. Some of you have asked if you could bring them in on Friday July 30 as you will be away for the weekend. Yes. One of us will be at the hall on Friday from 2 – 3 pm.
Also, if anyone could spare some time to help out with the serving it would be appreciated. If you let us know when you would be available we can arrange hourly shifts.

Dear Thetis Community,
We are actively looking for an apartment or suite to rent in Victoria for a lovely young couple starting out at UVic in the Fall.
The rental market is very competitive! Any leads or insider tips on little known places would be greatly appreciated.
Please contact Katia Bannister bannister.katia@gmail.com or call/text 250-246-0216.
Thank you!

Hello Thetis Islanders,
Last chance to fill out the Thetis Island composting survey. The more feedback we get, the better our understanding of composting trends on Thetis as well as what the appetite is for an on-island organic waste diversion system!
Later in August, we will be sharing the results of the composting survey along with a summary of the community composting project we have been working on.
Survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfwSPRnmRNnC8Inbgk4ZDDYrZS_rWzta4-QA72Q-TrDHjx4og/viewform
Additionally, Connor is still seeking organic waste diversion experts (compost, digesters, wood chipping, etc) to come forth and share their knowledge! If you have a method and/or system that you would like to share with the community, please give Connor a shout: connor@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org
Many thanks,
ThINCpod
