Forbes Hall: Cleaners Needed

TICA is looking for individuals to do basic cleaning from now until sometime in September.

These individuals will be considered for a larger part-time contract when the job becomes available in the fall.

To start, individuals will be given two hours per week (on a roster) to do basic cleaning as activities restart over the summer.   All necessary cleaning equipment is supplied.

$20 per hour, firm.  Days and times somewhat flexible.

Healing Sessions - Penelakut

There are healing sessions on July 28th and Aug 4th (10-1400h), noting that non-indigenous allies are welcome to attend to witness their/Penelakuts’ truths.

Good morning Thetis Islanders! 

Very happy to be able to offer Yoga classes here on the Island at the beautifully renovated Forbes Hall.  I have been teaching yoga for 10 years mainly in Vancouver for YYoga and at the Richmond Olympic Oval.  I would like to get an idea of who is interested and which days/times work.  These are the days and times I am looking at:

Saturdays:

9am -10am  (leaving plenty of time during the summer months after class to head over to Jollity Farm to refill your Kombucha bottles and enjoy some yummy fresh produce, as well as visit the Saturday Markets for more delicious treats and all the lovely things they have to offer). 

Tuesdays:

8am - 9am 

Thursdays:

6pm - 7pm  

My teaching style is playful, compassionate and joyful, so mainly flow Yoga synchronizing movement with breath.  These are ‘open classes’ meaning they are suitable for beginners - intermediates, with modifications throughout. You will leave feeling lighter, brighter and more at ease in your minds and your hearts.  

Classes will be by donation, all donations will go towards Forbes Hall.

Help Needed

I have a special request for an older gentleman that lives down at the dock on his sailboat.

His name is Colin and he needs some help as he has been clearly disheartened and frustrated because his engine isn’t working and he just needs a diesel mechanic and is having a hard time finding someone.

Could you put out a message to see if there is a boat diesel mechanic on Thetis that could come have a look?

I just want to help out as he seems down on his luck and he’s a nice old man.

Summer Market

Summer Market July 17th 10-2

This week we are talking about ourselves.  

Helen has been knitting up a storm all winter and spring with her whimsical socks. No two are alike so what a great idea for a gift or for yourself. She has also been making one of a kind sweaters with her added chic design.

Gloria is still in the kitchen making jams and jellies using their own fresh fruit from the garden. Pick, rinse, slice and cook all in a few hours. 

She has doggie coats, doggie and kitty bandanas and a monkey tree with homemade sock monkeys. This weekend the sock monkeys are on sale for $20 each.

If you think you would be interested in joining us this year or next let us know and we can arrange for you to join this fun group.

Library: A Few Reminders...

The Great Book and Bake sale is July 31, 10-1.
