Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11:29AM I’m encouraging Thetis Islanders to consider reviewing and attending the Trust Council meeting July 8 re a new trust policy statement being voted on. This is a virtual meeting.
There is significant opposition on multiple other islands re this document. There are articles in the Driftwood etc. and a huge Facebook group. I have no idea if their concerns are justified / exaggerated but thought folks might want to attend the meeting to get informed as I am trying to do.
From my reading of it. It appears that this policy/ bylaw will supersede individual islands decisions on individual community island plans, so could strongly affect our island with its own land planning decisions.
I wish we had a forum for discussing things like this on Thetis.
Meeting is during business hours.

Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11:21AM Hello!
I am a professional and composer musician currently living in Chemainus and would love to move to Thetis, so I am looking for a rental preferably a quiet cottage or carriage house or stand-alone suite to do my writing and recording.
I have my boat moored on Thetis and would love to live there as well, and be more a part of the community!
I also have an indoor cat named Max who is quiet, clean and friendly. The rest of my listing is via the link. Thanks so much and looking forward to meeting you!

Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11:19AM Summer Market July 3rd 10-2
Drop by this Saturday and see what our talented artisans have to offer. We have woodworkers, card designer, jewellery, wind chimes, locally made soaps, jams and jellies, knitting, basket making, kids clothing, and our local bakers have been really busy making delectable treats for us. Yummy!
Also, the Thetis Island Fire Department will have a sign-up sheet at the market this Saturday if you are interested in purchasing a House Protection Sprinkler System. They need 6 homeowners to sign up so they can place an order. There will be booklets from BC Wildfire Service on how to be Firesmart around your home as well.
Thank you

Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 3:13PM A resident contacted the department with this safety tip:
Check your stored gas cans and open the small vent to release the pressure during this heat wave.
There is a possibility that the Jerry cans could explode with the build up of vapours inside. Not all gas cans are created equal, and increased vapour pressures on some older containers will cause failures.
