Mika Needs a Summer Home

Beautiful, sweet natured, 5 year old, orange tabby, named Mika needs a home this summer. 

She is a healthy indoor cat, who will venture out a few feet, but not much.  She has all her shots and just got a check up. 

I need a temporary loving home for her from June 19 (or 20) until September 3rd.  I can’t keep her where I am staying for the summer and would really appreciate someone to care for her for a few months. 

I will pay $250 a month.

BC Day Parade – Monday, August 2nd

It's never too early to start planning.  Let's have a parade!  Most will have had their second covid shot, the Province will have considerably eased up on the restrictions by then, it will be a warm summer day just right for fun and frivolity.  So put your creative hats on, plan your float or parade entry, or just plan on coming out to cheer.

Muster on Mission at 10am behind the fire trucks and kick off at 10:30. Route is down the hill, around Marina Drive past the boat ramp and back to Pilkey Point Road and up the hill again.  Finish at Forbes Hall.  Outdoor picnic tables will be there for those that really plan ahead for a picnic lunch.

Short and sweet, a great way to kick off August.  

You have two months to plan your float/entry.

Looking For Casual Summer Work

I'm Erica,

I'm 13 years old, & would like some casual paid work this summer.

I can water gardens, walk your dog or keep your cat company, mow lawns up to moderately challenging, do light yard work, wash vehicles & other odd jobs this summer.

I charge minimum wage per hour. 

I can use our dreamy lawn mower, for an additional fee. 

My mom, Sherri Pepin, is happy to accompany me while she reads in the car. 

I have experience cleaning horse stalls, looking after animals & other odd jobs.

ThINC Project -Re- Generation Update

Good day Thetis Islanders,

Last week ThINC concluded their first session of Project -Re- Generation (aka ReGen)! Although I may sound like a broken record, for those who are not familiar with the program, ReGen is an immersive place- and project-based learning experience designed to inspire, activate, and empower youth to become engaged community members through regenerative action. 

Over an eight-week period, a group of six young learners met three times per week to explore diverse themes on the topics of sustainability and nature; met with and learned from numerous community members; and collaborated on a couple projects that took place at the Pollinator Garden at The Portal. To learn more about the program, the team, and our project, see here: https://www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org/sustainability-programs
