Thetis Area in AlertAble

Setting Alerts for Thetis Island on the AlertAble App

In case you haven't been able to find Thetis Island in the list of areas covered by the new AlertAble system for emergency alerts, we are, rather unobviously, included in the category "Cowichan Valley G Islands, BC".

This is under Settings -> Locations.

Took me awhile, so might as well save someone else the trouble!

Mothers’ Day Tribute

Here's A Little Thanks to All Our Moms for Just a Few of the Many Things Big ‘n’ Small That You've Taken Care Of.

If one could bank all your deeds of loving kindness and count them like our pennies, we'd be rich beyond all measure.

Enjoy the lyrics of "No Charge" written by songwriter Harlan Howard and released by Melba Montgomery.

Lawrence (Community) Trail Signage

The official Lawrence Trail was flagged for affected property owners to verify that the marked trail is the correct one.  After time allowing those owners to check it out, signs were made up and today a work party posted small signs indicating the trail direction and marking paths on private property.

Now that spring is gloriously here, we hope you're taking time to enjoy the lovely trails on Thetis Island, remembering that when you meet other walkers, although masks aren't necessary outdoors, we still need to practice social distancing.

Successful Vaccination Clinic

One must be extremely grateful for the opportunity to have received this injection and full kudos to Fire Chief J. Caldbeck for spearheading the occasion.

It is however worth noting that the recommended interval between doses is 21 days for Pfizer-BioNTech. After this time if you don't get the second dose your immunity may wear off sooner, making you more vulnerable to “breakthrough” infection.

Taking note of the venerable statement, “The squeaky wheel gets the oil”, and in light of a news item from Washington State that over 3000 unclaimed doses had expired and had to be disposed of, perhaps this island community might strategize on a creative way of acquiring 330 doses sooner than late July or August.?
