Quarterly Reminder & Call for Notes

This is just a nudge to remind everyone that the deadline for contributions to the Spring issue of the Quarterly is February 10th.  If you have any stories to share, please do!  It's not like we can chat over tea in the library yet.  If you would like to put in an ad, or if you have an ad that needs updating, please send it along.  Everything to quarterly@thetisisland.net, and if you haven't received an acknowledgment within a day or two, please call me at 250-246-1509.

Thanks!

Veronica

PDF of Let's Keep in Touch Thetis Island doc's / PlaceSpeak

All emails from letskeepintouchthetisisland@gmail.com sent out to all residents of Thetis Island from October 2019 until January 2021 are now in one compiled PDF, for your reference and review on the “Resources” page of PlaceSpeak.

https://www.placespeak.com/uploads/6244/00_Thetis_Island_engagement_platform_-_introducing_PlaceSpeak.pdf

While we understand that a page has been established regarding the fibre optic initiative for Thetis Island, on the Thetis Blog, due to time constraints we will be unable to monitor any posts there. Please direct any questions you may have to letskeepintouchthetisisland@gmail.com and we will be pleased to answer as time permits. Furthermore, we encourage you to have your say in real time on the “Discussions” page of PlaceSpeak under the fibre optic initiative topic there. Sign up or sign in to be part of the conversation:  https://www.placespeak.com/thetisisland/

Regarding signing up to PlaceSpeak for anyone new to the island, or new to the fibre optic discussion: the “Let’s Keep In Touch with Thetis Island” is a private PlaceSpeak topic for islanders only, and is not discoverable in the public version of PlaceSpeak. Your email address is “the key” to accessing the platform. We, as administrators, need to grant you one-time access to this platform – it is open to ALL Thetis Islanders, both full and part-time residents. If there is a particular email address you would prefer we use to connect you, please let us know by emailing us at letskeepintouchthetisisland@gmail.com. And, if you are unsure of which email you are connected with, email us, and we will be pleased to confirm.

Please check your email inbox sent from letskeepintouchthetisisland@gmail.com for a reminder of the PlaceSpeak sign-up instructions, as the host providers of the platform simplified the sign-up process last year.

Thank you again for the outpouring of email support we have received from you regarding the Fibre Optic Initiative for Thetis Island.

Keep Healthy!   Keep Safe!

Follow Up to Fraser Point Boat Theft

Thanks to a few people that provided timely information, our stolen boat was found by Ladysmith RCMP beached at the head of Ladysmith Harbour where it was starting to be stripped.

The boat has been recovered and is now at a boatyard to awaiting the RCMP identification team and to start the long process of putting it all back in order.  The RCMP have a witness who has had contact with the thieves and for all islanders’ sake, we hope the RCMP have success in apprehending the thieves so we can all sleep a little easier.

Thanks again to all who offered assistance.
