Links for Non-Profits

I am providing this information to you re the Networking for Non-profits (NFN) Group and the Newsletter that I also offer as part of the group.

NFN group is not exclusive to the CVRD area.  The reach is Vancouver Island, Gulf Islands and beyond.  Until last year the monthly meetings were held in person once a month.  We have now switched to a Zoom meeting format that has been very successful.  This group consists of a huge voice of experience within the volunteer engaging sector.  If you have an issue or question someone will know the answer.

Topic ideas are welcome and is entirely member driven. (consists of Individuals, Groups and Organizations that are Non-Profit, For Profit, Government, Health Care and so on) 

Topics range, and include anything from Volunteer Management, Fundraising, Marketing, Leadership, Events, Self Care, Youth, Family and Senior Resources and so on. 

This is an informal group, no membership and everyone welcome.

New Choose to Move Programs - Supporting Seniors 

CTM is launching in-person & online January & February 2021. CTM is a free, evidence-based approach supports seniors to become more active and socially connected for better health and mobility.  Participants work one-on-one with a trained activity coach to create a personal physical activity plan to meet their health and fitness goals by doing activities that they enjoy. Thetis Island Wharf - CVRD Grant Application

I am pleased to advise the Thetis Island community of a CVRD Grant application for the Thetis Island Wharf.

13 Jan. 2021 CVRD Board authorised staff to submit an application for grant funding of up to $275,000 for the Thetis Island Wharf Refurbishment Project through the Canada Infrastructure Program - COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream; and that the Board supports the project and commits to any associated ineligible costs and cost overruns through the budget for Function 490 - Thetis Island Wharf.

The funds will be awarded in 2021 and the project is to be completed by 31 Dec 2021. There will be many applications for these grant funds. I look forward to a positive result for the Thetis Island Wharf application.

Davis Lagoon Bridge Repairs

Davis Lagoon Bridge repairs starting January 18, 2021.

 

Please be advised that Mainroad Mid Island will be repairing Davis Lagoon Bridge on Chemainus Road.

Work will take place Monday, January 18, 2021 until February 26, 2021.

Work will begin at 8:00 AM and finish at 4:30 PM each day.

Expect minor delays due to speed reduction. Please watch for traffic control people, road crews and equipment.

Thank you in advance for your patience.

Please drive with caution, watch for roadside crews and before heading out, check www.DriveBC.ca for road condition updates.

Contained a few coins and plain gold man’s wedding band.

New Team Leader for TIFVD Auxiliary

I am delighted to report that Jan Fesnoux has accepted the position of Team Leader for the TIVFD Rest & Rehab Team.  

Jan will be taking over from Merry Gooding, whom has served as Team Leader since the inception of TIVFD support teams and will be still active as a team member.  Jan welcomes hearing from community members with an interest in supporting the fire department during the occasional need for this support service.
