Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 7:32AM Dear Thetis Island Neighbours
The Staff at Capernwray are excited to be welcoming students this weekend for the start of this year’s Bible School programme from Sept 18/20 – April 15/21.
We have been working hard throughout the spring and summer months to go above and beyond what the governing bodies and various industries recommendations and standards are for safe operations in light of COVID-19 in order to welcome these students to our island home.
Be assured that we want to keep you, our island neighbours, as well as the staff and students of Capernwray safe as we journey through this pandemic season together. Strict protocols, changes in how our programme is delivered and operates, a decrease need for local & off-island travel and much more have all been carefully researched, thought-through and implemented in accordance with all guidelines, mandates and best practices in order to achieve this goal.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as our campus continues to be closed to non-registered guests or visitors throughout the Bible School season as part of our COVID-19 Safety Plan. We do miss seeing you walk through and enjoying the property that has been entrusted to our care.
We continue to provide updates through our website and social media avenues to share what is happening on site, so please feel free to visit www.capernwray.ca. If you have any questions or concerns about how our operations may affect you directly, please feel free to contact our Main Office at (250) 246-9440 or chbc@capernwray.ca.

Friday, September 18, 2020 at 8:28PM A major rain event is forecast to hit our area between Tuesday and Thursday.
The forecasters at Environment Canada haven’t nailed down the exact timing yet.
The major rainfall event may be accompanied by strong winds so possible power outages may occur since this is the first major Fall storm, and leaves are still on the trees.
Prepare accordingly.

Friday, September 18, 2020 at 8:25PM Is anyone going over tomorrow with some spare time, or actually going to
the Esplanade Rexall?
We have an order there for some eye drops for our
cat.
We would come and get it from you when you get back to the
island.
If doable, many thanks!

Friday, September 18, 2020 at 8:25PM SYNOPSIS (Thurs): The [Coastal Fire] area continues to lie between an upper ridge to the east and an offshore upper low, bringing variable conditions from cloudy to clear and patchy showers in western regions of the island. Smoke is causing shading and visibility issues supressing temperatures and moderating humidity, with effects worse in the south. On Thursday instability is supplemented by a more solid sub-tropical feed which may overcome the effects of the smoke. Potential of lightning through the southern third of the area with a risk in other parts.
OUTLOOK (Fri- Sun): Into Friday and Saturday the offshore upper low starts to move, coming onshore into Oregon and pushing precipitation north into southern regions. This system is expected to maintain cooler, more seasonal temperatures but push humidity values upward through the driest areas, potentially bringing some lightning. Precipitation amounts trend toward lower values. Saturday is also likely the best chance for smoke to move out of the region as inflow/westerly winds are expected.
Late Saturday this feature departs, and a weak upper ridge moves over the area again for early Sunday, bringing everything from variable cloud to sunshine again, and patchy light showers, however an approaching upper trough pushes some instability ahead of it returning more showers later in the day.
