Bee News

Your local beekeepers work together to conduct regular inspections of the Thetis Island apiaries. This way we can keep current with bee health, predator challenges and forage supply.

Many of us experienced heavy losses due to wasps last fall, so we are asking islanders for their support to help control wasp populations. The next few weeks are an important time of year for breaking up the wasps breeding cycle, so please trap and destroy wasp colonies.

There are lots of great home grown tips & tricks for trapping wasps online, or traps are available through local hardware and feed supply shops.

Swarms! Despite best efforts by beekeepers to manage the spring and summer population boom, bees still swarm. If you spot a swarm please call one of us so we can gather help and collect the bees!

Septic Tank Pump Out
