Farewell

83 days ago, I arrived to Thetis Island.

I have come to visit my sister and her husband many times before over the last 15 years.

This time was going to be a bit different, I was here to watch there home while they ventured across Canada.

As I drive onto the ferry to head back home, these are just a few things I will take with me.

1. I now look at garbage in a whole new way.

2. Hummingbirds can eat 75 lbs of sugar in 83 days.

3. Weeds not Zombies will take over the world.

4. What can I make for supper with three things??? (because I didn't feel like going to get groceries off island)

5.If you venture out after dark take a torch, Tylenol and a pen. (don't ask just trust me)

But most of all I have learned there are a fantastic group of people on this little island and off. (Myla and Steve)

I would like to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome, the coffee's, dinners, movies, shopping and wine tours.

As well as the fun at the Saturday market…

It has been a fantastic way to spend three months and I look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Forbes Hall Expansion & Upgrade Project ~ You are invited to Saturday’s “On the Court” Information session.

The Directors of the Thetis Island Community Association and the Members of the Forbes Hall Expansion Committee invite you to our upcoming “On the Court” Information session.  We look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you, and bring you up to date on the project, and funding.   It has been quite an undertaking from the first donation to this project in October 2016, to now, with footings ready to be poured, and the original building with its renovation well underway.

We want the community to know what is happening behind the gates & fencing; our “On the Court” sessions create a gathering where we are able share with you all we know about the project, and in turn, you will be able to share your new knowledge within the broader community.

Our objective is to inform, answer, and inspire.

Saturday, July 27th from 5:00 - 6:30 at the Tennis Court

(access via the Pathway on Mission Road - no access through the building zone)

Beverages & snacks will be served.

If you are unable to attend this session, we are available to meet with you individually if it is more amenable to you.  As well, there are two more sessions planned for August 8th & 17th, if either of those dates would be preferable.  Just let us know to put you on the list for your preferred date.

Please let us know, by return e-mail, which date you will be attending, as it aids us in planning.

Sincerely

Ann Dickie

July 24, 2019 ~ Bill Lottis

Many of you knew Bill Lottis. Bill passed away Wednesday (July 24) in Campbell River, BC surrounded by family. Bill had struggles with multiple strokes, some seizures and dementia most recently. Bill is now in the presence of Jesus – at peace and rejoicing in glory.

I honour a man who spoke volumes into my life and the lives of countless people. Words fall short of conveying the magnitude that God used Bill Lottis in the kingdom work of Jesus in our little corner of this world.

Please uphold Sandy and the Lottis family in your prayers.

A memorial service will be held in Campbell River on August 17th.

Blessings, Ron Hartwig
