Notice: Wasp Nest on Lawrence Valley Trail

Be aware that there is a wasp nest in the ground on the side of the trail.  

There is a warning sign and the nest will be taken care of but in the meantime exercise caution.  

If you are coming from the Fire Station, after you cross the meadow and start climbing the hillside, the nest is about 100 yards past the two chairs after the junction of the Dingley Dell Trail and the Lawrence Valley Loop and on the left side of the trail.  

We’ll let you know when it’s been dealt with.

From 1 - 3 PM, join Ted from Plan Bee Now for a talk on the importance of bees and their sustainable management. Ted has a B.Sc. in biology, a diploma in agricultural production, a diploma in adult education and 17 years of experience teaching Agricultural Chemicals, Beekeeping, Applied Ecology, Agronomy and Soils.

He is a very concerned advocate for the resolution of the honey bee/bumblebee/native bee competition issue on the west coast islands.

Also, from 11 AM - 1 PM join us for paper making with wildflower seeds

From 1 - 3 PM, join Sierra (from Many Hands Farm) for a hands-on workshop on permaculture (the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient).

Sierra - age 13 - loves art, pigs, natural horsemanship, reading and teaching permaculture.

Baby Stuff Needed

Help needed in a few areas. We are in for double trouble for 2 weeks (July 25 - Aug 10).

Our house is going to be invaded by a couple of 10 month old handsome (very cute actually) baby boys.

We are in search of a few items like a high chair and 2 car seats suitable for a couple of 20 lb young men to borrow.
