Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 9:55AM Please check out all our latest updates
Parking of freighter still continues, mainly in the Ladysmith area, despite empty English Bay! Transport Canada is playing deaf (read about this in our next news!).
Based on our complaints MP Elisabeth May sent a letter to Minister Garneau. Islands Trust expressed their negative opinion about the efficacy of the Interim Protocol and it's extension, aligning with our position (see News June 2019 below). Many thanks from ACT for this timely action!
ACT will host a discussion on August 8th, 4PM at the Nature House on Thetis Island, Invited speaker is Chris Straw from GAFA who will be talking about the newly formed South Coast Ship Watch Alliance and the planned Media Campaign.

Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 9:54AM A Reminder to those Islanders who rent out their summer homes, cottages and or other fare…please remind your tenants that they need to take their garbage back home with them off island, or deal with their garbage with YOU.
Also to the locals that do not want to wait until Thetis Island garbage day, or are too cheap too pay, you are also on Security Camera with your dumping.
Please note that with every illegal dump, you take away our contribution to TICA and you have basically taken us to the point of no contribution for this coming 2020 season. And that is pretty SAD. And TICA gets a copy of the security feed…
In Case You Forgot, This Is an Island And We All Have To Contribute To Its Cleanliness.

Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 9:51AM Three cement trucks and a pumper truck will be coming over to Thetis next Friday, Aug 9 on the ferry out of Chemainus, which arrives at 8:00 am.
They will be returning at an as-yet-unascertained time later on that day.
Please take notice as this may affect your travel plans and we apologize in advance for the inconvenience.
