Heartbeat Follow Up

The SOAS team would like to extend their thanks to all who helped to make Heartbeat another successful event; from making posters and decorations, to cooking, serving, cleaning up, donating goods/ services and making purchases . Together, we raised over $3, 600 and are now close to the goal of installing another 100,000 litre water storage tank at an elementary school in rural Tanzania.

If anyone remembered to take pictures of the event, we would be most grateful if you'd share them with us.

Again, a big THANK YOU.

Little Dog Statue Missing from Top of Pilkey Pt. Road

I placed a small cement statue of a Pomeranian dog at the top of Pilkey Pt. Road as part of a game called Geocaching, and it has gone missing. It says on the bottom of the thing to please not remove it, and that it's an official game piece. It's necessary to locate the actual cache nearby which is the point of the game.

This also serves as a memorial for a pet I had, and by removing it you're not only ruining a harmless game, but you've stolen something that has a big sentimental value to me.

If anyone has seen this little statue around or has it in their possession, please return it to where it belongs at the pullout on Pilkey Point Rd.

Relief: Noon Hour Supervisor Position

Looking for on-call, casual Noon hour supervisor for Thetis elementary school

Our Noon Hour Supervisors play an important role in our school communities. They ensure the safety of our little learners as they enjoy their mid-day lunch break, and are a friendly face when help is needed. The position is ideal for anyone interested in meaningful work with students.  If you or someone you know would like to spend an hour a day with our little learners, we would like to hear from you!

This is a CUPE (union) position paying $24.51 per hour and is on an on-call, casual basis. Required qualifications are grade 12 and Emergency First Aid with CPR certificate available from St John Ambulance or First Alert.

If you are interested in joining our school community as a Noon Hour Supervisor, please email your resume in .pdf format to Human Resources at:  vlysne@sd79.bc.ca or drop off hard copies at the School Board Office.
