Dale Burkholder

Our Island community is less colourful this week.

Dale Burkholder has left us. In the early morning hours of September 7th Dale moved on to distant shores.

He maintained his remarkable humour and conducted himself like a champ, leaving with a sense of calm and inner peace. Dale loved this island and the many people of diverse backgrounds and opinions it provided him.

Always shifting fluidly from right to left to ensure a lively dialogue. So many facets to our friend Dale. Fishing, writing, jokes, gardening, really too many to mention.

We will miss him deeply.

There will be a Celebration of Dale’s Life to be announced in the near future.

Dick Phelps

Thank you to everyone for the incredible support I received after Dick's sudden passing.

Thank you for all the cards, gifts of food, flowers from the Fire Dept., hugs and words of condolence, and a special thank you to Peter Luckham for bringing our sailboat back to Thetis from Chemainus.

There was no service, at Dick's request, but he loved it here so much and would be so appreciative of the wonderful community that came together in my time of need.

On behalf of myself and our daughter, Katherine, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks TIVFD!

Thanks to the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department who helped me get to the Duncan hospital on Saturday Morning.  I was in a very bad way and your professionalism and support was greatly appreciated.  Thanks again for your help.

Alberta Female Visitor Looking for Work

Good day Thetis islanders,

I am currently visiting your beautiful little island and would like to extend my stay here. I am offering 4 hours of work per day for 5 days per week in exchange for room and board. I am a middle aged female with experience in many different fields.

I have years of experience running my own farm, so can do farm work gardening or helping around the household. Handy to do almost anything as long as it is not physically too hard. I would also be interested in helping out with anything involved with sailing or the such. Hoping to hear from someone, thank you kindly!

Urgent ~ Help Needed with e-Spokes

I will be away in October. If no one can help, there will be interruptions in the eSPOKES emails.

Sending out eSPOKES is simply a matter of using your computer to paste the notices into the mailer format. Usually it can be done once a day at whatever time of day works for you. Generally, this does not take too long.  I am happy to train and work with you.

A committee of several members taking turns to do the posting would be ideal

Please contact Claire Hess at 250-246-9445
