Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 12:43PM The parking area adjacent to the boat launch is for the parking of boat trailers and their attached tow vehicles only.
The parking area is part of the Marina Road allowance and falls under Highways Regulations.
Parking is not permitted for unattached trailers.
We ask that all boats and or trailers be removed.

Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 12:39PM In addition to our wonderful local community library that will be once again available to us when Forbes Hall construction is completed, the Vancouver Island Regional Library offers a great, free, Books By Mail service to remote readers.
Thetis Island counts as a remote community. The green book bag service means you can order any number of books in any genre, adult or child, regular or large print format, and they arrive at your post box. You read them at your leisure, then you pop them back in the bag and drop the bag into the mail box. No late fees, no postage fees, no hassle.
I found this service especially great in the past for children’s books because the Books by Mail librarians get to know your child’s reading interests and will choose for you if you like. (Grand kids coming? Have a stack of books ready to read while they are here, then mail them back when they leave.).
Vancouver Island Regional Library is funded through regional taxation, so since you are paying for it, take advantage of it.

Attendance: 122 eligible voters (TICA members in attendance)
Votes held:
Vote 1: to add amendment to original motion as below
Original motion:
Resolved that the directors be authorized to borrow money to complete the expansion of Forbes Hall.
Amendment to be added to the Motion
Resolved that:
1.The Society borrow up to $500,000(the “Loan”) for the purposes of completing the Community Hall expansion, on such terms and from such lenders (the “Lenders”) as the Directors in their discretion determine is in the best interests of the Society;
2. In order to secure the Loan, the Society grant to the Lenders security, by way of a general security agreement charging all of the present and after acquired personal property of the Society, and a mortgage charging the real property owned by the Society, together with such other security as may be reasonably required by the Lenders (collectively the “Security”);
3. The President and one additional director of the Society be and the same are hereby authorized to execute the Security on behalf of the Society.
Results of vote
Vote required 50% plus 1 to approve adding amendment to motion.

Yes =82 No= 39
Yes vote was 68%. Motion carried.

As this was a special resolution it required 66% approval
124 votes cast
Yes = 75 No = 49
Yes vote was 60%; not enough for approval; motion failed
Post meeting note:
After meeting ended, it was noted that there were more votes cast (124) on the second vote than eligible voters (122) so the vote is invalid. Another vote will be held at a future date.
Monday, December 9, 2019 at 10:30PM Thank you for your participation and patience at Sunday’s meeting. We apologize for the length of the meeting, and that many people had to leave prior to voting because of time.
Unfortunately, there were irregularities in the voting. There were 122 eligible voting members who registered at the start of the meeting. On the first ballot there were 121 votes; however on the second ballot, 124 votes were cast. This means there were more votes cast than registered voters in the room, making the vote invalid. The vote counting followed Federal Electoral practices led by Jeannine Caldbeck, and all votes were counted three times, by a group of four members. It was not until after the meeting that the discrepancy was discovered.
The result of this is that the situation still stands as it did prior to the meeting, in that, the TICA Board will be asking for the members’ blessing to raise or secure the payment or repayment of money in the manner they decide.
A meeting will be arranged in the New Year, at which point further information will be available. We note that this will be an inconvenience for all of you, but are looking for your participation and support at this future meeting.
