Needed: Ride to Nanaimo Ferry ~ Saturday, Nov. 9th
Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 10:57AM I will be trying to connect with a noon hour ferry from Departure Bay, so any morning departure from Thetis would be okay.

Monday, November 4, 2019 at 10:59AM Thank you to all the vendors who have signed up for this year’s Christmas Bazaar.
All tables are full!
Helen or Gloria will be contacting you about set-up time and day.

Monday, November 4, 2019 at 10:58AM It has become increasingly obvious that large deposits of dog poop are being left on the grounds at St. Margaret’s Cemetery.
May I remind Thetis Islanders that St. Margaret's Cemetery is the burial place of loved ones, family, and friends.
Even though it is a community property, and accessible to all, that does not make it open for abuse.
The cemetery is maintained and operated by a group of dedicated volunteers. Cleaning up dog poop left behind by those who do not consider the hard work of community volunteers should not be a part of this picture. How would you feel about dog excrement being left on your family graves?

Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 11:29AM Here’s another reminder about the Annual Flu Shot Clinic...it is this Wednesday, November 6th at the Fire Hall.
The VIHA nurses get off the ferry at 9:15 (if the ferry is on time) and should be jabbing by 9:25 a.m. They would like to make the 11:10 off so the clinic will wrap up by 11:00 a.m. if possible.
The TIVFD Auxiliary will be offering a coffee service of goodies after your flu shot while you recover.
Our Community Paramedic will also be on hand for her monthly Blood Pressure Clinic.
We will hand out numbers at the door, since that seems to have worked well in other years so please come in, have a seat, and visit with neighbours while you wait.
As you know, the nurses are very fast and efficient.
Unfortunately there is no flu-mist this year so kiddies will get an inoculation.

Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 11:28AM Thank you everyone who came out in the bright sunshine to share in the Official Opening celebration on Saturday at the fire hall. We are very proud of the facility and welcome anyone interested in volunteering to train to become a TIVFD member.
Due to various other duties today, we were unable to take many photos of the event. If you took any pictures you are willing to share, we would be grateful for copies for our archives. Send them to chief11@telus.net in the highest res you can.
Thank you!

Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 11:16AM We've made it easier for you to pick up our pasture-raised, Habitat Livestock Co-op Eggs.
Check out the fabulous self-serve egg stand on Mission Rd.
DIRECTIONS:
Lift the handle for eggs stored in the cooler. Deposit $6/doz or $10/2 doz into the secured cash box* OR record your IOU and pay monthly at Jollity Farm, or by e-transfer. Please mark your purchase either way, as it helps us track sales.
Please return clean, used egg cartons to shelves in cupboard. Preview at www.instagram.com/habitat.farm
*Cash box is emptied daily.
**You can still pick up eggs in the fridge at Jollity any day of the week

Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 11:13AM From November 1 to April 1 Thetis Island Fire Permits are no longer required for campfires or hand piled yard waste fires.
However, you must check the Venting Index before you ignite your burn pile. (You must not light the pile on days where smoke will not be vented sufficiently.)
Category 3 fires- also called machine pile fires, must be registered with the Province and the R -Number recorded by the fire department and a local fire permit obtained from the fire chief or delegate, and may be subject to a site inspection.

Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 11:06AM Looking for a place to live. We both have been on the island for 12 years or more.
My husband can do maintenance. I'm a cleaner.
We are also looking for a place to put our 5th wheel to live in, if that would work.
Please email me at drawers64@hotmail.com
Thank you,
Connie
