Thetis Island Elementary School

We are having our Drop Everything and Read Event again this year.  It was a great success last year.  It is happening on Monday October 28th from 9:00 am to 9:35 at Thetis Island Elementary School.  Please come and join us and read with our students.  This is a provincial wide event to promote reading.

We are still looking for the following donations for our kitchen:  A food processor and pots and pans with lids.  Thank you for your generous contributions to our school.

You can drop any items off at the school or contact Genny Redman at gredman@sd79.bc.ca

Food Safety During Power Outages

Stormy weather is predicted before summer!  Here is an excellent chart to print out and save to read by candlelight when the power goes out.

Fire Prevention Week Ends

Thank you for participating in Fire Prevention Week by cleaning your chimney, checking your smoke alarm batteries, making sure you have a family escape plan in place, and checking your dryer vents.

But we also want to thank you for your safety and vigilance during this past wildfire season. Because of your participation by not allowing fires to start, and by calling in smoke sightings to 911, we had only a few minor incidents that were dealt with swiftly.

We are in this together.  We appreciate your help.

Ride Needed: to the Ferry in Victoria or Nanaimo

My son Tommy's ride back to Vancouver on Monday fell through.

Can anyone give him a ride to the ferry in Victoria or Nanaimo that day?  He works on Tuesday.

Thanks.

Ron Hyatt's Birthday

My uncle, Ron Hyatt, turns 98 years old on Thursday, October 17 and it would be lovely for him to receive some birthday wishes cards in the drop box.

Ron and Edith’s box number is 11-10.

I will gather any cards for him from the drop box at the post boxes and give them to him on Thursday.

Thanks,

Jeannine
