April is Cancer Canvassing Month

Thetis Island has contributed generously to The Canadian Cancer Society over the years and we Canvassers are most grateful.

Many new families have made Thetis Island their home and we would like to try a gentle and unobtrusive way of contacting each and every one of you.

If you wish to donate to the Cancer Canvas 2019 Program and your Lot Number is between:

46 - 110 & 296 or 297: please phone Tooner Knowles (246-5844)

111 - 240: please phone Merry Gooding (416-0200)

241 - 411: please phone Simone Luckham (246-4802)

We would be happy to connect with you for a donation made to The Canadian Cancer Society. More info on what is done with the donation can be read on: http://www.cancer.ca/en/get-involved/support-us/how-your-donations-help/?region=bc

Our Team is available until April 30.

Thank you, in advance,

Merry Gooding

On-Line Phone Book Info Form

This is just a heads-up that the on-line form for letting us know about changes to your phone book information, is not working.

Fortunately we're a long way from working on a new book, so if you have any changes please just send them to me by email (veronicashelford@gmail.com), and they can go into the phone book updates in the Quarterly for now, and the database for the next book.

I'll try to get the online form fixed in time for working on the next phone book.

Fog Zone Fire Restriction

Due to the high risk for wildfire this season, the “Fog Zone” will no longer be excluded from Coastal Fire bans.

Although this only impacts people from here travelling there to camp etc., it is still relevant to Thetis Islanders as an indication that this year will be worse than last year, and last year was bad.

Just like Thetis, the communities in the Fog Zone will now be issuing local fire permits and banning fires when local conditions warrant.  Tofino, Ucluelet, Bamfield etc. are no longer immune from the higher risk of wildfires even in the fog zone.
