As part of our ongoing public consultation for the proposed cell tower on Thetis Island, TELUS is inviting the public to a second public meeting to comment on the proposed 50.0 metre self-support tower (plus a lightning rod) proposed at 155 Pilkey Point Road, Thetis Island to improve wireless services to the area.

Blood Pressure Clinic & Fire Prevention Week

Our Community Paramedic Georgia Nelson will be at the Solid Waste Recycling Centre this Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 to check your blood pressure and answer health questions you may have.  

This is Fire Prevention Week.  Now that the rains are here and you will be using your clothes dryer more, this is a good time to clean out your dryer vents to ensure they are clear all the way to the outside.  Check that no furniture was pushed against your baseboard heaters during the summer. Have you cleaned your wood stove chimney yet?

The TIVFD will be assisting the school with their Fire Drill on Wednesday between 10:30 and 11:30 and the Engine will be on North Cove Road.

Ancient Bingo Machine and Cards

When we were clearing out our crawl space, we discovered that we had been storing, for TICA, a very old electric machine for "calling" bingo numbers, and boxes of cards for people to use, for community Bingo nights.  TICA no longer wants them.  

Does anyone else on the island have a yen or a use for these items?  If not, they'll go to the Thrift store, or wherever else we can find that will take them. Pictures are up at

Puzzles & Trails

Hello Thetis - I am looking for two items: 

1.  Puzzles - if you have old puzzles or board games on your shelves collecting dust, I'll be happy to take them off your hands

2.  Trail maps of Thetis - I've read a lot about the walking trails on Thetis. Does anyone have a map or information they can share on where to access the trails, the distance, views, difficulty, etc.
