Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 5:13PM As of Saturday the Fire Hazard has been lowered to High. All High Risk Activities can start up again on Monday. Please be aware that the surface moisture we have has not traveled too far into the soil yet so be cautious.

Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 5:12PM The TIVFD had a call in the dark hours this morning to an address not marked on the road- in either direction! Turning the Fire Dept. Vehicles around takes time. That’s time better spent at your emergency scene. Please mark your Lot Number clearly at your driveway, visible from both directions. This By-Law helps us to help you when you really need the help.
TIVFD
PS. Aggressive Fire Safety can make a lot number post for you. There are many examples around the island and are highly visible from both sides.

Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 9:53AM I will be away for a short holiday Monday to Wednesday, September 10-12.
The post office will have limited service as Mindy will be taking over as she has many other duties to perform during these days.
Thank you for your patience.

Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 9:45AM Dear Thetis Islanders
A huge thank you to all of you who could come out to our farewell party.
We were overwhelmed by your kind words and support. We do often hear that we will be missed, and truth be told we will miss you too.
Thetis is dear to our hearts and we look forward to many visits and chats as we bump into each other. We also got a new landline 250-416-7604 and 9931 Maple Street is where you can find us.
Much love
The Kempes

Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 9:42AM with Marine Educations and Research Society (MRS) researcher Jackie Hildering
In addition to sharing MERS’ research on Humpback feeding strategies and rate of entanglement, Jackie will discuss how the fortunate return of these giants from the brink of extinction necessitates increased boater awareness about avoiding collision and what to do if entanglement is witnessed.
As an educator, cold water diver and underwater photographer, Jackie is known as “The Marine Detective” with on-camera experience including being featured on Animal Planet’s “Wild Obsession” series and in the BBC productions “New threat to Canada's Pacific Humpback Whales?” and “Ingenious Animals”. She has been referenced as the standup comic of marine conservation.
This event indeed promises to be informative and entertaining!
At the Portal, 254 North Cove Rd. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the presentation starts at 7:00 pm. Free entry. Donations to ThINC and MERS welcome.
