Yard Waste Burn Permit

MODERATE fire weather danger is holding, and we will issue permits for yard waste burning for the balance of May. Please be aware that we may have to cancel all yard waste permits if the conditions change quickly.

If you have an Outdoor Fire Permit issued from May 1 to May 15, we will automatically extend it to May 31st, with the caveat that it may be rescinded. You do not need to reapply…we have your permit listed.

If you had not applied already for a yard waste permit in May, please apply on-line at www.thetisislandfire.ca. Allow 48 hours for your permit application to be processed.

Please remember it is your responsibility to check the Venting Index and to make sure your outdoor burning is safe. Do not burn in windy conditions and never leave the fire unattended.

Campfire permits are still in force until May 31st.

Loose Dog

This is a reminder to keep your dogs on leash or under control at all times. It's spring and young livestock are vulnerable.

I am aware of a medium sized dog that has been loose on or near North Cove Rd twice in the last week. If you know whose dog this is, please let the owner know it's not okay.

Even very 'nice' dogs can harm livestock by chasing them and many will not stop at chasing. The consequences can be very serious for the farm, as well as the dog and its owner.

Please call if you have questions, or information about the dog's owner.
