Need for the Quarterly to be Picked up in Duncan

Is anyone going to be in Duncan this Friday, to be able to pick up the 100 or so Quarterlies from Apple Printing at 430 Trans-Canada Highway, just north of Coronation?

We won't know for sure if it will be needed on Friday, until later Thursday afternoon, so we're putting out the call now, and will confirm the need then with whoever offers.

Please respond to quarterly@thetisisland.net if you can help and thank you!

Please drop them off at the school anytime, or I'm happy to pick them up.

Visits to Capernwray Harbour: Waiver

A new Bible School year at Capernwray Harbour is about to begin!

We enjoy welcoming you, your friends and family to walk the grounds, bring the kids to the playground, or visit the Pump House (snack shop).

With this change in season, we want to remind our Thetis Island friends and neighbours to fill out a new waiver form for the 24/25 season which is valid from September thru to the end of August each year.

Here is the online waiver link:

https://app.waiversign.com/e/5ee902a62e28580011657fd6/doc/5eee997f89d6520018d7a722?event=none

When visiting the property, please do drop by the Main Office for a quick ‘hello’ to let us know you are on the grounds.

We look forward to seeing you!

Refundable is Not the Same as Recyclable

Our Thetis Elementary school community is continually thankful for the generosity of our community in the form of the “refundable” containers program. Every year we are able to enhance the school program with the funds that are raised by collecting these containers.

However, this program does not work well when community members continue to include their “recycling” in with their donations of refundable containers. Every week there is significant amounts of recycling left at the refundable container, which then has to be separated, and privately hauled off island.

While we understand it could be frustrating for community members to have to deal with your own recycling, we kindly ask that you please do not bring recycling to the refundable container and put this strain on a program that is so integral to our students and teachers.

The signage at the refundable site is clear. If you are still unsure check out this site which has all the information regarding which containers are accepted:

Needing a House/Animal Sitter?

To locals that vacate their properties during the winter or require property maintenance.

I have a good friend who is a professional house/animal sitter, and she just had a cancellation, meaning she is available from now until April!

She brings an absolute wealth of experience and skill sets, has an abundance of references, and is a dedicated gardener and remote living expert (i.e. familiar with water conservation, fire awareness etc).Ideally, she would find a long-term house/animal sit and would offer it as a straight trade (no fees), but other variations of this are possible too.

She is gentle, quiet, kind and a clean, respectful soul who works remotely, so will be a great companion for animals/livestock if you go away for the winters.

I have a whole write up, complete with references, skills, experience etc  about her - if you'd like me to email it your way, please shoot me a text with your email address to 250-327-3860 and I'll get that to you!
