To celebrate thetisblog’s second anniversary, we’re holding a photo contest, looking for quintessential pictures of Thetis or our community.
Rules: the photo must have been taken on Thetis, or looking at Thetis. It must have been taken between May 1st 2013 and April 30th 2014. All submissions need to have been taken by the person submitting them. Please include your name, the general area & the date the photo was taken. If the photo is of a community event, please mention the event. E-mail your photo in full-sized format to editor@thetisblog.net
The winner will win a basket of home baking by Ann Dickie, and the photo will shown be on the front page of the blog for the next six months. The runner-up’s photo will be shown on the front page for the six months following. A gallery of all submitted photographs will be created on thetisblog.
Entry Deadline is April 30th, 2014.
last year's winning photo by Gregg Humphreys
Thanks to all the submitters and readers, it has been a very successful year!
Every day, all individual readers are counted. Any device used is counted when it accesses the blog. If the device is used more than once a day to view the blog, it is only counted as one visit. All of these visits were people who searched specifically for the blog.
So, if you look at the blog twice a day for 30 days on one device, it is only registered as 30 visits, not 60. Here are the statistics for the past year:
Average visits per month: 1,462; up from 564 last year
Average amount of pages viewed per month: 3331; up from 2,940 last year
Total visits this past year: 17,539; up from 6,783 last year
Total page views: 39,966; up from 33,640 last year
The way I read these statistics, is that more of you are using it more frequently, and not opening as many pages each time (perhaps due to the frequency). Last year visitors looked at an average of 5 pages per visit, whereas this year, they’re looking at an average of just over 2.
I am happy to know that it has succeeded in providing a place for folks to catch up on current happenings, and to source information integral to living and participating on Thetis, as that was my intention!

Thank you to everyone who generously contributed clothes for the Bee Hive, we had a wonderful selection for people to free shop!
A big thank you to Nettie and Don, who baked, cooked, smiled and cheerfully served all who arrived hungry.
We had some very interesting sewing projects undertaken on Saturday and I’m sure there will be more when we gather again in May.
