Yoga

Hello everyone,

It is now October and fall is beginning to settle in and it is time for you to find a new way to stretch your body and create more peace in your day-to-day life.  If you have been thinking, planning or procrastinating on coming out and trying yoga on Tuesday or Thursday this is the month to do it.

Yoga has become a way of life for me, I joyfully get up at 5 and am in my yoga studio by 5:30 to breath, stretch, chant or meditate (or all of the above).  What would you like to learn about yourself this year?

I am going to go back to the basics for October and November, so please do your body and your spirit a favour and come give yoga a try.  You do not need to be in shape, you do not need to be a pretzel, you can sit in a chair if that is comfortable for you.  We all have to start somewhere and here and now are a great place to begin.

I have recovered from herniated disks in my neck and I still have challenges with my spine and yoga has been the greatest gift in helping me to restore my mobility, regain confidence in myself and it has truly taught me about commitment and dedication to being more than I truly thought I could be.

If Den Kelsey were still on island with us, he would give you a nudge and a wink and wonder where on earth the men were and why more people didn’t come out and try this wonderful ancient technique for exploring your own mind and body.

I can always meet you and do some one-on-one work so that you are more comfortable in a group setting, or happy just to do it at home with some occasional guidance.

Call or email me for more information, Dawn Gordon, 250-210-0826 or dawn@beserenity.com

Wear comfortable clothes, dress in layers, don’t eat anything big before you come to yoga as it is too hard to breath, stretch and digest.

Happy Thanksgiving and see you on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 to 10:45 (an hour of yoga, and 15 minutes of relaxation) $10 – come early so we can start precisely at 9:30.

Anais is back to baking bread! ~ Friday, Oct 9th

This is to let you know that I'll be baking this Friday (Oct. 9th) and I'll have bread ready for pick up on a first come-first served basis from 11am to 2pm.

No need to pre-order, just turn up and get what you like! Quantities will be limited however...

I'll be baking:

- my good old French country loaves, baguettes, sesame/poppy seed loaves, etc.

- a surprise bread with seeds and/or whole grain, depending on my inspiration of the day

- my legendary sourdough brioche

As usual, all breads are hand-made by myself using organic flours.

See you on Friday!

Green Gratitude

My heartfelt thanks to the wonderful group of community members who came out to Forbes Hall meet local Green Party Candidate Fran Hunt-Jinnouchie. I know she felt well-received and glad she made the trip.

I especially want to thank everyone who tidied up the hall while I drove Fran to the ferry - you were gone before I got back to find voila everything was already done! Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated.
