Come and See the Learning Garden Slope Project
Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 9:20PM Come and check out the fantastic results of the slope stabilization workshop at the Learning Garden behind Forbes Hall. Over the past two weekends, participants have learned the basic techniques for stabilizing slopes with natural materials and have put this education into practice to stabilize and beautify the slope created by the installation of the garden water tank.
The process was inspiring to all who participated and the results are a wonderful addition to the garden. The next project is to create a screen and bench/planter area at the top of the slope to help make the Learning Garden an inviting space for everyone.
Thanks to Stephanie Cottell for facilitating the workshop!
Ann Eriksson
PS As you walk around Forbes Hall, please be careful in and of the construction area.
Thank you! TICA
Changes at Forbes Hall ~
Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 10:45PM Accessibility improvements at the front of the Community Centre are being implemented over the next month. The first stage will be site preparation for an enlarged ramp and drop-off area southeast of the building.
A gentle warning: This ramp area will not be "user friendly" until the paving is completed in late May.
The project was described in the Winter issue of the Thetis Island Quarterly, click here to read report.
