The AED unit is out of service until the new electrodes arrive sometime next week. In the meantime, there is a note in the AED cabinet giving the location of another, privately owned, AED close by if needed.
There is still a Naloxone (Narcan) kit and a CPR Pocket mask available in the Pilkey Hall AED cabinet.
We will update you when the TIVFD Public Access AED is back in service.

Howdy Friends & Neighbors,
I, Greg Gall, hope to travel with my son and two grandsons on a Shelter Helps team this November to the San Vicente area of El Salvador. Our team hopes to raise enough funds to provide the materials for 20 homes and a hopeful future to 20 families in El Salvador.
San Vicente, where our team is to be based, has received approximately 2 feet of rain in the last 2 weeks, displacing many in the affected areas. A reminder of the importance of Shelter Helps’ work there.
Since 2001, Shelter Helps has been constructing homes and training Salvadorans with the skills to construct homes for themselves. Yet having the skills without the funds to purchase the needed materials still leaves thousands without the means to provide a permanent dry home to care for their families.
Here is a URL to see what $3800 can do for a family home in El Salvador:

Something all of us may do is pray for those needing Shelter around the globe. I would count it an honour to be your ambassador of prayers and encouragement this November with the Shelter Helps team to El Salvador.
If you would like to encourage these families with a financial gift towards a new home and hope filled future, go to the Shelter Helps donation portal below:

May you be encouraged as they will be.

For sale at Forbes Hall on Canada Day (Monday, 1 July, 9-11am)
This is an ideal time to get a new Thetis Island t-shirt, ball cap, fleece blanket or maybe a Thetis Island Map.
Many of you are familiar with the large map hanging inside at Forbes Hall. Copies of this map, available in 3 sizes, will be available for sale on Saturday. Local artists, Bill Dickie and Mary Forbes created this map in 2005 as part of the Salish Sea Mapping Project.
There are also black T-shirts complete with an image of Maynard Johnny Jr.’s art installation which is featured on the exterior of Forbes Hall Community Centre. These are available with short or long sleeves. 5% of the sales of these shirts go to Hope and Health, Penelakut, a charity supported by Maynard Johnny.
Proceeds from sales benefit TICA’s Back into the Black Debt Reduction Program.

The Thetis Infrastructure Task Group is made up of TIRRA (Thetis Island Residents and Ratepayers Association – Solid Waste Yard), TIPC (Thetis Island Port Commission – Community Dock & Boat Launch), TIID (Thetis Island Improvement District – TIVFD/Firehall) and TICA (Thetis Island Community Association – Forbes Hall Community Centre).
For the past 6 months our group has been working with the CVRD on their funding, planning, and assistive work for Thetis Island. Each year Thetis Island pays about 1/3 of Area G’s taxes, yet we only make up 1/4 of the population. Most funding goes to services Thetis Island residents rarely access.
We would like to hear from the community. Property Tax Day is 2 July, and we thought it appropriate to hold the meeting on this date.
There will be brief introduction statements by each of the four groups, and a 10-minute financial presentation by Paul Duncan before we open the floor to you. All concerns, questions and ideas will be recorded for use in our future meetings with the CVRD.
Looking forward to seeing you!

Friday: A weak ridge moves over much of the province. While temperatures rise in the SE corner of the Fraser and parts of Pemberton, an approaching trough brings clouds and unsettled conditions to the Coastal Fire Centre late in the day. Light SSW inflow winds throughout the zones are expected.
Saturday-Monday of next week: Unsettled conditions continue through the long weekend, alternating between clear and warm to cool with showers. Saturday a trough of low pressure moves in bringing more moisture. Mid-Vancouver Island and Sunshine Coast seeing higher amounts, 5-8 mm. Sunday is more unsettled than not, with showers through the day and moderate SW winds gusting 30-40 km/h. Monday brings some slight ridging providing a break from the rain and a return to seasonal temperatures.
