The Fire Hazard is moving up to 4, or HIGH HAZARD, on Saturday. Work in or near the woods that can produce sparks from exhaust or striking rocks (excavating, mowing, milling etc.) must cease by 1 pm and a 2-hour fire watch posted (stay on site to look for smoke). Have water and a tool on site.
Campfires with permits are still allowed, but we urge you to use your propane campfire appliance (does not require a permit) instead if available.
Please be safe and report all daytime smoke columns to 911.

Weather Pattern: The first province-wide heat will begin Friday over the coast and spread across the interior this weekend as a ridge of high pressure settles over the province. This multi-day event may continue into mid-late next week. However, the exact duration of this event remains uncertain and may lengthen/shorten. In the event that the warming extends past the forecast period, listed impacts may increase from a prolonged period of above-seasonal temperatures.
• Forecast Temperatures: Coast: 25-30⁰C (Coastal inland sections: Up to 32 ⁰C). Communities nearest the Strait of Georgia may see some reprieve from the heat due to the cooling effects of a sea breeze (local wind).

Forbes Hall Health Services Group
The Thetis Infrastructure Task Group is made up of TIRRA (Thetis Island Residents and Ratepayers Association – Solid Waste Yard), TIPC (Thetis Island Port Commission – Community Dock & Boat Launch), TIID (Thetis Island Improvement District – TIVFD/Firehall) and TICA (Thetis Island Community Association – Forbes Hall Community Centre).
For the past 6 months our group has been working with the CVRD on their funding, planning, and assistive work for Thetis Island. Each year Thetis Island pays about 1/3 of Area G’s taxes, yet we only make up 1/4 of the population. Most funding goes to services Thetis Island residents rarely access.
We would like to hear from the community. Property Tax Day is July 2nd and we thought it appropriate to hold the meeting on this date.
There will be brief introduction statements by each of the four groups, and a 10-minute financial presentation by Paul Duncan before we open the floor to you. All concerns, questions and ideas will be recorded for use in our future meetings with the CVRD.

Is that giant lamb’s ear?! No! It’s ‘great mullein’ (Verbascum thapsus)! Like lamb’s ear, mullein can get quite fuzzy, but unlike lamb’s ear, it doesn’t hug the earth. Great mullein can grow quite large and in charge - stretching upwards of 10 feet tall! It’s a biennial plant, and in its second year of growth it produces a tall stock and showers petite yellow flowers down upon its large leaves. These flowers can be eaten, but more excitingly, mullein is a well-known expectorant, meaning it can help the body ‘expel’ excess mucus while also producing soothing anti-inflammatory properties.
