12-Year Old Boy Available to Work

Hi,

I’m 12 years old and I want to do some work around the island so I can save up some money. I have experience doing farm work, and I am strong for my age.

Things I can do include:
Water plants
Walk dogs/check in on them while you’re away, etc
Cut kindling
Stack wood
Rake leaves/tidy yard
Gather branches
Lawn mowing
Weeding (please show me which plants though!)
Feed farm animals
And other stuff too if you teach me!
I can work for up to two hours at a time, and my rates are very reasonable.

If this sounds like something you’d need, please contact our family email at
hollyberryhollow@gmail.com

Thank you for your consideration

Fire Danger Class Moves to High

In British Columbia, a "High" fire danger class means forest fuels are very dry, and the risk of fire is serious. New fires may start easily, burn vigorously, and challenge fire suppression efforts. Extreme caution is needed during any forest activities.

High Risk Activities: If the fire danger rating remains “HIGH” for three consecutive days, high risk activities near the forest are restricted at 1 pm and a 2-hour fire watch posted.

The Fire Danger Class rating has now moved up to HIGH for Thetis Island. Starting on THURSDAY, JULY 3rd, all High-Risk Activities (mowing, milling, etc.) must cease by 1 pm .

Solid fuel evening campfires with permits are still allowed at this time. Have water at the campfire and watch the wind conditions.

Changes For Electric Vehicles Onboard BC Ferries

From CHEK News;

BC Ferries says that due to changes by Transport Canada, electric, hybrid and alternative energy vehicles are prohibited from charging up onboard vessels and on its properties.

Vehicles with minor or cosmetic damage that isn’t affecting wiring or the battery will be allowed at the discretion of the vessel master, so long as they are driven under their own power.

Vehicles with major damage including exposed batteries, fluid leaks or wiring issues won’t be allowed on board. That also includes vehicles that are placed on flat-bed trucks such as tow trucks.

BC Ferries does say full-sized commercial car carriers transporting operable and undamaged used or new vehicles to dealerships will be permitted.

SUMMARY

• Electric, hybrid & alternative energy vehicles prohibited
from charging at BC Ferries properties and on vessels

• Vehicles with minor or cosmetic damage that clearly doesn't affect the battery or wiring are allowed, at the discretion of the vessel Master, provided they are
being driven under their own power Vehicles with major damage - including exposed batteries, fluid leaks, or wiring issues - are not able to be transported

• Electric vehicles that aren't being driven - like those on tow trucks - aren't allowed on board
