Fire Safety

Campfire Suggestion for the Summer

Propane campfire appliances are on the shelves at Costco, still for $119.00. These campfire appliances are allowed when solid fuel (wood, charcoal etc.) campfires are not.

So, if you enjoy sitting around a campfire, roasting marshmallows etc., and you know there will be campfire bans coming, consider purchasing a propane campfire appliance. They do not produce smoke, sparks or embers, and can last for years with proper storage.

Fire Weather Update for Thursday

PARKSVILLE – Developing this evening and into the weekend, the coast will experience an early spring outflow pattern and light to moderate winds, which are expected to lower relative humidity significantly. Outflow conditions occur when drier air flows out from the mountains via fjords and valleys toward the water.

The Coastal Fire Centre would like to alert our industry partners, along with the public, that the potential for wildfires to ignite from industrial activities and open fires will be elevated during this time.

While there are no open fire prohibitions within the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction at this time, we strongly suggest caution with any open fire during this period of elevated risk.

If lighting a fire within any local government jurisdiction, you must follow any bylaws or restrictions that are in Place.

Boat – For Sale

I have a 12-foot Hurston Glasscraft fiberglass boat for sale. Has three aftermarket boat seats and a fiberglass floor so your feet stay dry. The transom and floor are solid!

It can handle a 15 to 25hp short shaft motor. Could use some minor cosmetic fiberglass work around the rim but other than that the boat is solid and the price reflects that ($ 500.00)

Boat is on Thetis.
