Prescription Pick-up from Rexall on Esplanade

If anyone is braving the last long weekend of the summer and going to the other side, I've got a prescription there I'd appreciate being picked up. Ran out of time on Thursday with the overloads.

Gracias,

Forbes Hall Health Services Group - Health Talk Series #1 - Dealing with Dementia

Thanks to a small grant provided to us by Our Cowichan Healthy Communities, we are able again to provide a series of community talks. Starting off our talks is a series on Dementia offered by Jane Hope of the Alzheimer's Association of BC. The first two talks will be in person, with the third being provided on screen.

On Wednesday September 17th, Jane will be providing two talks.

10:00am to 12:00pm
Getting to Know Dementia: Learn how dementia affects an individual’s brain and behaviour. General topics include different types of dementia, stages and progression and dispelling some common myths.
1:00pm to 2:30pm
 - Brain Health: It’s never too late to make changes for a healthier brain. Learn how to maintain or improve your brain health by exploring topics including natural aging changes, dementia, risk reduction, memory, brain training and more.

Note:
a simple lunch will be provided for those who would like to stay at the hall for the afternoon talk, by reservation. See contact information below.

Third Talk: Friday, September 19th

10:00am to 12:00pm
  Dementia Friendly Communities:
Islanders are invited to join Jane for an online meeting. Connection information to follow. This will be available in your own home, or at Forbes Hall.
Join us to learn more about dementia and explore simple strategies that can create a more supportive, inclusive and welcoming community for people affected by the disease.

The amount of people with Dementia is growing. It is estimated that over 770,000 people are currently living with Dementia in Canada and that number will grow to 1 million in the next five years. Please join our talks and learn about the nature of the disease, preventive steps and how to make our community welcoming to people dealing with the disease.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

The last Summer Market for this year, anyway. Your last chance this season for those delicious spring rolls or cinnamon buns. The last opportunity to check out the clever and artistic creations of our vendors. Or how about those amazing Vancouver Island grown mushrooms?

You’ll find us at our usual spot at the head of Telegraph Harbour on Saturday from 10 to 2. Drop by and visit us for the last time this year.

Firewood Sale Re-opens

Even though we said we were done, we found some more!

And it’s a good way for us to support local charities and meet some people on the island 😊

We would have 1 trailer load (about 100 cu ft) of 10-11 inch split for $240.

Same gig as other loads: we will donate your payment ($240), plus an additional 50% ($120), to local charity.

Also, anyone who wants to order some wood for over this winter for drying for the future--We’re sure to drop a a few more trees (given the effect of root rot on the fir, and the fungus on the arbutus).

So, contact Geoff--he will make wish list for delivery over the next 6 months.
