While TICA must continue to fulfil its mandate to oversee and manage Forbes Hall, the board would now like to re-evaluate its operations through an environmental lens. To this end, TICA will be adding a board position with a dedicated Environmental portfolio. The new board member will be someone with a strong interest (and perhaps experience) in exploring and promoting environmental issues and solutions and will work with other board members and volunteers to develop operational plans and projects for the future.
The Board has noticed the growing number of babies, toddlers, children and youth living, playing and learning on Thetis Island. There is room for programs and activities at Forbes Hall that are specifically designed for, and directed to, these children and youth. In acknowledgment of this, TICA will be adding a board position with a Child & Youth Initiatives portfolio. This director will liaise with parents and youth to accommodate new initiatives and events, bringing the ideas to the Board for discussion and implementation.
If you are interested in either of these two positions, please contact a Board member:

The TIVFD Fire Engine and Water Tender will be operating on Pilkey Point Road and North Cove Road this Saturday as our new Emergency Vehicle Drivers take their driving tests. Please be aware these are big trucks and do not crowd them. We will be on the roads from 9 am to 4 pm.
Thank you for your support.

On Monday, April14th Thetis Island Nature Conservancy will be chipping the waste material gathered in Fairy Slipper's parking lot.
If you have wood that needs to be chipped you are welcome to join. This provides a great opportunity for households who have a small pile of wood that doesn't make a Chippy visit viable.
Chipping will start at 1 pm, and people are asked to bring their wood waste to the parking lot between 10am and noon on Monday (absolutely no drop offs before this time)
We are basing the cost on volume - $80 for a long box pickup load (approximately half an hour of chipping using ThINC volunteers).
For smaller quantities the cost will be adjusted accordingly.
The goal is to reduce the fuel in our woods in a way that does not put the deadly toxins that come from wood burning into the atmosphere. A win win.
If you have any questions, please contact:
David Reay, Ann Eriksson or Jim Moloney

I lost a favourite scarf yesterday morning - possibly getting into our truck for the busy 7:45 am sailing. It is blue and green with a fringed edge. If you have found it, please let me know
Thank you!

Hello, all Island prawn fishers.
Just a heads up, there have been numerous reports that traps have been raided early this season. Ours included.
Either this is a poor season, or there is truth to be told. One vessel in particular, a 24-28 white SEASWIRL STRIPER, cuddy cabin, hard top, was witnessed hauling gear, on an electric puller, that was not theirs. Last seen docked in Chemainus. There are, hopefully, plenty for all.
The DFO have been notified.
Thanks for reading.

Dear Island Friends,
It is coming to that time of year where the Capernwray Harbour students will be departing after their year of study. We wanted to make sure you were all informed ahead of time as to which sailings will have extra traffic volume, both cars and walk on.
Wednesday, April 16, 2025:
approximately 140 guests Chemainus to Thetis - 12:35pm (possibly some on the 2:15pm)
Thetis to Chemainus - 8:05pm or 10:35pm
Thursday, April 17, 2025:
90 students (primarily walk on) - Thetis to Chemainus - sailings scattered between 5:45am*, 7:45am or 9:00am *higher volume
Please let us know if you have any questions, and we do apologize if this causes any inconvenience.
