Annual Order of Local, Organic Blueberries

We are gathering up requests for local, organic blueberries again this year.

Delivery to Thetis is usually around mid to late August. Berries are picked at the farm, flash-frozen and provided to us in 10 lb boxes with a freezer bag liner. Boxes are about 12 x 10 x 8". There is a small chance we'll be able to get some of them fresh this year but only if we can time our pick-up perfectly to align with a harvest day.

Same price as last year when we order in volume together.

$64 / 10 lb box ($6.40/lb)

Please email your requests to info@jollityfarm.ca

With thanks,

Jollity Farmers and friends

Yard Sale This Coming Weekend (Sat & Sun, 8am)

Our friends, Debbie and Phil are moving to Nova Scotia. They don’t want to take anything with them for this move, so this Saturday and Sunday there will be a yard sale.

Starting at 8 am. Where?… the little red schoolhouse studio on Maple Lane in Chemainus. That’s a stone’s throw from the ferry. Please help them out by lightening their load.

Thanks.

The People’s Apothecary Garden

Plant of the Week #13 - Sage

With over 900 species in its genus, Salvia, sage is a global herb with a long history of use as a spice and for health purposes. At the PAG we have several species, including common, golden, Russian, and meadow sage. Next time you visit, see if you can spot them in the garden.

Plant of the Week #12 – Self-heal

Self-heal (Prunella vulgaris), aka heal-all, is one wild medicinal plant that everyone should know about! It is one of the better studied herbs and has even proven itself (scientifically) to be a potent little plant with many health benefits. You can now see them starting to bloom around Thetis, so get ready to forage!

Phone Book Correction

Please make a note in your new phone book, that the correct number for the Jollity Farm Cafe & Shop in Chemainus should be 250-246-9188.

The number currently in the book is incorrect, and I thank the islanders who let me know.

And thanks to everyone for helping us keep the book accurate and up to date!

Margaret Armstrong, Celebration of Life, Thursday 27 June, 2pm

Margaret Armstrong passed away peacefully after 92 wonderful years on Sunday, 26 May 2024, in Duncan, B.C.

Born in a rural area once called Saskatchewan, Manitoba with a land section number on her birth certificate, she is preceded in death by loving husband Harry Armstrong, daughter Randi Armstrong and brother Jack Bergen.

Marg and Harry raised their family in Burnaby, B.C., for 28 years and spent many summers on Thetis Island where they eventually retired and enjoyed their final years. During their 40 plus years on Thetis they both will always be remembered for their work with the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Dept. Marg cut the ribbon along with retired Fire Chief Pete Reese for the grand opening of the new fire hall. Marge also had a book published about the TIVFD called “A History of the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department”

She loved to spend time with family, friends and she will be fondly remembered by her son Brent (Barbara Armstrong), granddaughters Brittany and Ashley (Brandon) and great grandsons Daryl, Bodie and Dane, respectively. Marg also had a special place in her heart for childhood friend, Betty, and best friend, Merry.

The family would like to thank the staff of Dove Hill Village in Chemainus for their compassion and kindness.

She will be deeply missed by her brother Ted (Dawn) as well as nieces and nephews.

Donations would be gratefully appreciated to Marge’s favourite charity “Wildlife B.C.”

A celebration of life will be held for Marg on Thursday, 27 June, 2:00pm at Forbes Hall Community Centre on Thetis Island.
