Thetis Island Food Pantry

Thanks again to the generous hearts of Thetis Islanders, over 50 kg of food and $285 was donated at the Craft Sale on Saturday to Harvest House. Several people who were unable to attend the sale also made donations directly to Harvest House. Many people on Thetis benefit from your generosity.

I would also like to thank Tim French and Gurk Sarioglu who volunteer their time whenever we are not available.

The Firehall is excepting donations this month.

Thanks again

Rodney

Missing Poncho

I seem to be missing my multicoloured hand-crocheted poncho, and may have left it in Forbes Hall, but I can't find it there now. It would probably have been in a black shopping bag.

If it has turned up somewhere and someone is wondering where the heck that came from, please get back to me!

I'm rather fond of it and hoping it will turn up again.

Goosey Gander Shop Hours this Weekend

The Shop will open later on Saturday from Noon until 3pm as I’m looking forward to visiting the Christmas Market in the morning. See you there : ) Sunday hours will be as usual from 10am to 3pm.

Please do stop by the Shop to have a Look, especially if you haven’t been yet, as the counters are overflowing with all sorts of items, lots and lots of Christmas decorations including a Snoopy Cuckoo Clock. There’s a rug braiding kit, and a wooden photo album box that holds 84 pictures, and if you missed them last weekend there is an eye-popping collection of model motorcycles for sale, and a Santa on a Motorcycle Ornament too. More items have been added to the yellow tag half off sale and the Goosey $10 Gift Coins are available to give to Family and Friends.

Have a very fun weekend and Thank You,
Nan Beals

December 10th Candle Lighting Ceremony

The Compassionate Friends is an organization created to support people who have lost a child. One of their events is an annual candle lighting ceremony. If people are interested please contact me davidreay@telus.net and we will either do a common event, or I will forward information so people can have their own private ceremony (or both).

Worldwide Candle Lighting Memorial Service

The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting on the 2nd Sunday in December unites family and friends around the globe in lighting candles for one hour to honor the memories of the sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, and grandchildren who left too soon. As candles are lit on December 10th, 2023 at 7:00 pm local time, hundreds of thousands of people commemorate and honor the memory of all children gone too soon.

Now believed to be the largest mass candle lighting on the globe, the annual Worldwide Candle Lighting (WCL), a gift to the bereavement community from The Compassionate Friends, creates a virtual 24-hour wave of light as it moves from time zone to time zone. TCF’s WCL started in the United States in 1997 as a small internet observance and has since swelled in numbers as word has spread throughout the world of remembrance.

Hundreds of formal candle lighting events are held, and thousands of informal candle lightings are conducted in homes, as families gather in quiet remembrance of children who have died and will never be forgotten.
