Suspicious Activity Neighbourhood Watch

Report all suspicious activity And precautions.

Thank you to everyone posting re suspicious activity on the water after dark and possibly related thefts. Please keep posting. Also please continue report ALL suspicious activity to the RCMP non-emergency line as you witness these things.

Relatively inexpensive solar/motion sensor lights may be helpful . Hardened steel chain locks are also available. Sad it may need to come to this, but here we are. Let’s keep an eye out and an ear to the grounds.

Police have fingerprints and DNA from the break in a couple of weeks ago at our store and we have some pretty clear images.

If anyone is interested, I’m happy to send a still photo that shows the nose and face and chin of one of the intruders. The older one. If anyone recognizes please phone the Ladysmith police.

Stolen Battery - Denouement

Since I posted the notice on e-spokes about my missing battery I have had several calls and texts of support and commiseration, including two offers of a replacement battery, one of which I reluctantly but thankfully accepted.

Thetis is truly a remarkable place, made better only by the people who make it their home.

Thanks again, one and all!
Ken H
PS: I donated the unclaimed $20 to an on-island charity.

Remembrance Day Horn

We are looking for a bugle or trumpet player to play The Last Post at our annual Remembrance Day gathering at Forbes Hall on November 11th. If you cannot play The Last Post (traditional for Canada & Britain), then Taps can be played (traditionally American). If there are no horn players, then other instruments can be substituted. Bagpipes welcomed!

Please contact firechief@thetisislandfire.ca if interested.

Suspicious Boat Activity

Hello!

This is a follow-up to Caroline Hanson-s – E-Spokes posting of yesterday. We are next door to the Hansons on Forbes Drive. Early this morning, around 12:15 am, I happened to be awake and looked out our window and saw a small light flashing on the water, close to the shore. There was a boat out there with no running lights on. I got up and walked down to the beach. I could again see a small spotlight turned on and then turned off again as it went around the point at Overbury Point. It headed into Preedy Harbour. At around 4 am, I could hear a small boat coming up the coast, close to the shore, heading north. It was a noisy boat, as mentioned in Caroline's e mail (perhaps a diesel motor?). Again, no running lights, but a small spotlight being turned on briefly near our property as it went by. It continued to head northwards.
So, this is a heads up to people living along the coast to be aware of this boat, if they happen to hear or see it come by.
I have reported these sightings to the Ladysmith RCMP on their Non-Emergency phone # 250 245 2215.
